Neural Responses to Sexual Stimuli in Heterosexual and Homosexual Men and Women: Men’s Responses Are More Specific Empty Neural Responses to Sexual Stimuli in Heterosexual and Homosexual Men and Women: Men’s Responses Are More Specific

Patterns of genital arousal in response to gendered sexual stimuli (i.e., sexual stimuli presenting members of only one sex at a time) are more predictive of men’s than of women’s sexual orientations. Additional lines of evidence may shed light on the nature of these differences. We measured neural activation in homosexual and heterosexual men and women using fMRI while they viewed three kinds of gendered sexual stimuli: pictures of nude individuals, pictures of same-sex couples interacting, and videos of individuals self-stimulating. The primary neural region of interest was the ventral striatum (VS), an area of central importance for reward processing. For all three kinds of stimuli and for both VS activation and self-report, men’s responses were more closely related to their sexual orientations compared with women’s. Furthermore, men showed a much greater tendency to respond more positively to stimuli featuring one sex than to stimuli featuring the other sex, leading to higher correlations among men’s responses as well as higher correlations between men’s responses and their sexual orientations. Whole-brain analyses identified several other regions showing a similar pattern to the VS, and none showed an opposite pattern. Because fMRI is measured identically in men and women, our results provide the most direct evidence to date that men’s sexual arousal patterns are more gender specific than women’s.

A bloke like Andy the bard
wakes up each morning quite hard
He humped his wife dry
Which then made  her cry
"If only I had used some more lard"

(took me 30 seconds to make it up)

It's much easier to predict a man's sexual preference than a woman's based on what sort of porn they like.

I would imagine most women prefer straight porn - man and woman - whereas men like straight porn and two women. In fact, most straight men probably prefer lesbians. As a woman, I prefer lesbian porn but I’m not a lesbian.

No, not really. Studies such as this one have never shown that the sort of material women respond to can predict their orientation.

What they show, actually, is that women in general are turned on by a wider range of material than men tend to be, and that unlike men, women aren't only aroused by material that's similar to the sort of partner they're attracted to.

Yes really it does show that it is more likley far more women are bisexual than previously thought. Its not discounting women can define their attractions just as men do,. Just with men its far more defined. It shows more women show attractions to both sexes. far more than men

You're arguing against the first sentence of your OP: "Patterns of genital arousal in response to gendered sexual stimuli (i.e., sexual stimuli presenting members of only one sex at a time) are more predictive of men’s than of women’s sexual orientations."

I’ve talked to plenty of straight women about porn and none of them like lesbian porn. They can get turned on by some straight porn but most find Lesbian porn distasteful.

Irrelevant, as what they say maybe well different to what would show up in neurology

I read the whole thing, and what it means is that in women, unlike men, material that makes you aroused doesn't have to match what you prefer to do in the bedroom.

"Because fMRI is measured identically in men and women, our results provide the most direct evidence to date that men’s sexual arousal patterns are more gender specific than women’s."

What you're missing is that women can become aroused by material that doesn't match what they prefer to do in the bedroom. Thus, a woman watching lesbians can become turned on and then turn to a male partner, who she prefers to have sex with.

While a man who's aroused from watching lesbians is very unlikely to turn to a male partner for sex, because their arousal responses are more predictive (by far) of their sexual preference than women's are.

You are just making up bullshit as you go along

This went off known sexual orientation. Where in men this more often matched than it di with women being more significant. Hence its more likleky more women are likely to be attracted to both sexes. Hence why there is homosexuality. You cannot make someone force themselves to be turned on by the opposite sex in many cases. Hence stop inventing your own bullshit inprepretation of the study

Two women together leave me cold.
And two women kissing, when they smear lipstick on one anothers faces, makes me feel a bit sick.
Odd but true.

How about admitting you made up aspects of the study to fit your own bias here?
