Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez facing backlash for 'concentration camps' comments

Concentration camp, internment centre for political prisoners and members of national or minority groups who are confined for reasons of state security, exploitation, or punishment, usually by executive decree or military order. Persons are placed in such camps often on the basis of identification with a particular ethnic or political group rather than as individuals and without benefit either of indictment or fair trial. Concentration camps are to be distinguished from prisons interning persons lawfully convicted of civil crimes and from prisoner-of-war camps in which captured military personnel are held under the laws of war. They are also to be distinguished from refugee camps or detention and relocation centres for the temporary accommodation of large numbers of displaced persons.

Hence yet again this idiot opens her mouth and basically insults the victims of real concetration camps, in the holocaust, South Africa, Namibia etc. She is making the detention centres comparable to concentration camps and only in order to promote herself and not the actuall people in the detention centres. Its all about ego. The far left have sunk to a new low with this and whilst there is certainly prroblems to resolve with the detention centres. They are no way camps that have a systemtic policy to work and starve to death people and shoot them out of hand, gas them etc. This is why the left is continually losing their way and why we are seeing more a shift to the right in Europe and even Canada has the conservatives leading the Polls. People are sick to death of this far left SJW idiots who demean the horror people actually faced in concentration camps. What is wrose, is that cretins like this are going to ensure Trump gets elected again and I think he is as big as a dick as she is.

You can find credible economists that find this plan credible and a majority of Democrats thatr also do?
That would be a neat magic trick
This is not a case of look what I have found, this is a case of exposing someone completely incompetant, unable to do basic maths. Who is as hateful and dishonest as Trump

The median opinion of the general US public is far to the left of the median of the representatives in Washington.
Generally, the public in districts will elect and send off to Washington representatives with fresh ideas. However, once there s/he is assigned junior status and inculcated with the inherent conservative Washington bias. Which is s/he going to follow? The people remote and back home, or the people (including leadership) s/he sees in everyday life, and can advance his or her status?
Newcomers like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are bringing Washington back into the public mainstream. She does it because she rejects the idea of 'get-along-go-along'. She is outspoken and doesn't cow to the establishment. It almost doesn't matter what programs she brings, she is bringing the whole notion of fresh blood.

I get out all the time. I'm licensed to practice law in 4 states. I have taught at Rutgers University, John Jay College, City University of New York, and the University of Arizona. I've got a daughter in Tucson. A daughter in Boston. And a daughter in Southlake, TX.
I do political and legal consulting all over the US. I'm in Washington frequently, and more occasionally in New York. I've lived in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Canada.
Just because I love California, doesn't mean I'm not familiar with the rest of the world.

Southlake? That's the reddest city in North Texas.
There are exactly 3 liberals there, and zero poor people.

It's about the most plush. The only POC's are pro athletes.
No homeless shelter in place like that either.
Funny how you rag on Texas and your daughter lives in a very conservative, wealthy enclave separated from the real folks.

She was born in Berkeley. Life's circumstances that determine where you live, cannot be avoided.
I've often said that there are many good people who live in, or are from the south. It's the core culture that brings the south down. Guns, racism, misogyny, anti-abortion, and hokey religions.
Most of the good people simply ignore that. I even met a guy from Atlanta who is a socialist. As I say, there are many exceptions.

North Texas has liberal enclaves. Southlake is not remotely close to being onr. Nobody has to live in Southlake. That's a choice one makes.

Neither are in North Texas.
I live in the Near Southside of Ft Worth. It's the Gayborhood. It's liberal and it's nothing like Southlake, which is about 15 miles away.

Yeah, your right. I was thinking the whole of Texas. Are you in the Historic Southside of Ft. Worth?
El Paso is a liberal city, but really, it belongs in New Mexico.

I like it too. El Paso is in the far northwest tip of Texas, in the wing just under the state of New Mexico. It has more the feel of New Mexico's culture, than Texas'.

That's across the highway.
And it's not really that historic.

Don't have much reason to go to Ft. Worth. I usually go from the airport to my daughter's, or to a hotel, etc. I have had the occasional deposition in Dallas.
