...as that old sea dog Cap'n shady was wont to say. How are the mighty (well, a long time ago maybe)   fallen?

Now I have no sympathy for this less-than-prepossessing character, a former spin doctor and Prime Ministerial Svengali who is held by many to have blood on his hands because of the notorious "dodgy dossier" scandal that will forever be a damaging millstone around the neck of Tony Blair and his administration. He broke a Labour Party rule by not only voting Lib Dem in the EU Election, but also going on tele as a pundit (personally I think it is time the fool was pensioned off for good) and boasting about it.

I hope his panel appearance fee will be of some recompense for his latest humiliation.

But hang on a minute....didn't Oh! Jeremy Corbyn do exactly the same thing on one occasion, and even further betray his party comrades on numerous (70+ springs to mind) occasions by voting in defiance of the Party Whip on key issues, any of which could have resulted in the fall of the Labour Government?

Yet he was never subjected to similarly summary execution.

These days, defying the Labour Whip means being chucked out of the party or, if the offender is a minister or shadow minister, being sacked. And given the past track record of some of Corbyn's puppet master Momentum thugs, threats, harassment and maybe even a brick through the window might well be added pour encourager les autres.

So why Campbell, particularly over an issue which is so divisive for both major parties?

Could it be that Corbyn, far from looking like a benevolent old grandpa, is becoming a harsh, iron-fisted  disciplinarian who will brook no opposition to his diktat?

Isn't that how dictators worldwide have started off on their careers?

Yep, that's how Trump did it.
