Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. will refuse to let back in Hoda Muthana, a 24-year-old U.S.-born woman who joined the Islamic State. “I have instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and he fully agrees, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the Country!” Trump tweeted Wednesday. In a statement, Pompeo said Muthana was “not a US citizen.” “She does not have any legal basis, no valid US passport, no right to a passport, nor any visa to travel to the United States,”Pompeo said. “We continue to strongly advise all US citizens not to travel to Syria.” According to The Guardian, Muthana left Alabama four years ago after she became radicalized. She was reportedly captured by Kurdish forces in Syria, and is currently in a northern Syria refugee camp. During her time with the group, Muthana allegedly became on of the group’s most prominent online propagandists—but she now claims she was “brainwashed.”

Possibly being the daughter of a diplomat could complicate things. But from what I have read her father was a diplomat before her birth, not at her birth.
