Schoolchildren are so used to projecting a perfect image of themselves on social media it is turning them into liars, a leading headmistress says
Social media is turning a generation of children into liars, according to a leading headmistress.
Sue Hincks, incoming president of the Girls’ Schools Association, said youngsters are so used to projecting a perfect image of themselves online that it is beginning to spill over into real life. Miss Hincks, who has been head of Bolton School Girls’ Division for eight years, said: ‘If you get used to showing one image of yourself on social media, you may begin to believe that is completely aligned to reality.
Obviously you want to present your best self, which is fine. But you might gloss over things that are core to your identity that it’s useful for people to know. We have to tell the truth and encourage young people to present their weaknesses.’
She went on to say that stars of reality TV shows such as Love Island and I’m A Celebrity are often far better than politicians at setting an example to children.
Miss Hincks contrasted the morals and integrity of contestants on these programmes with the outrageous antics of US Failing Cheeto-Faced Ferret-Wearing Shit Gibbon.
She added: ‘Public figures – whether they like it or not – have a responsibility to remember that young people are watching everything they do.’

I think she is stating the bleeding obvious tbh.
Living life through social media as many seem to do nowadays, gives a one dimensional image that's cultivated to make you look better, seem more interesting, and gives a totally false image of how most peoples lives are.
Sad but true.
