Sarah Huckabee Sanders Offers to Lie for Free During Shutdown

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Calling it “the least I can do for my country,” the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said on Saturday morning that she would lie for free during the government shutdown.

“Now more than ever it’s important that the stream of falsehoods and distortions from this White House continues to flow in a steady and uninterrupted fashion,” Sanders said. “To achieve that, for the duration of the government shutdown I will be lying on a pro-bono basis.”

Sanders said that Donald Trump had asked that she keep a full accounting of the lies she told during the shutdown so that she could be reimbursed for them later, but she turned down that offer. “I’ve often said that I like to lie so much I would do it for free,” she said. “This is a chance to put my money where my mouth is.”

The press secretary said that her offer had already inspired other top Administration figures to lie for free during the shutdown, including Vice-President Mike Pence, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and White House doctor Ronny Jackson.

After making her announcement, Sanders moved on to a broad range of other topics, including her assertion that the government had not shut down.

It's the southerners, Andy.  How long have I been saying this?  How many times do I have to keep telling you.  These guys are the flaw in the American system.

American was born of two economic systems: an mercantile and manufacturing north; and a slave-owning, agrarian south.  Everything that is good about the US--we saved the British and allied ass with our Land Lease Act, based upon northern manufacturing--has happened as a result of the culture of the north.  Everything that is bad about the US--open gun laws, race baiting, apartheid, noose parties, the KKK, school shootings, white trash and economic slumps--come from the south.

WTF do you think I'm talking about when I speak of excising the south from the US...or, the most I can hope for, a west coast based upon moral values.  Look at the election map of the 2016 presidential election:



The west coast and the northeast--where everything good comes from--is all blue.  Those who voted for Trump are southerners, and mid-westerners from the southern migrations up north in the 1960's ("Home folks think I'm big in Detroit City...but by day I make the cars, and by night I make the bars...)

The southern culture--the stupid and immoral--are what elected Trump.  That, and collusion with the Russian, and rigging election machines.  I swear, if we could only excise the south, we would have the greatest nation on earth.

I'm as much against Trump as most of his detractors in this forum appear to be...and perhaps more so in some respects. If he doesn't manage to destroy world trade he'll probably start WW3!

I regularly discuss the Commander-in-Chief (while fervently thanking God that he ain't my Commander-in-Chief) on another and admittedly far less partisan and divisive forum, and all I can say is that if it descended into little more than a politically-motivated comic book spamfest, then I would be out of the door in a trice.

People have been worried about Trump starting a major war for awhile now. I was a little worried at first too, but he is a throwback to how America perceived the world prior to WWII. His America first platform usually means that it's not our problem when people in far away lands treat each other like shit. It costs us too much blood and treasure to try to sort them out and rarely works.

He's not real intelligent, he's boorish, rude and thin skinned. But the "Trump derangement syndrome" is actualy making options in the other major party look very scary.

Trump shouldn't have a chance in 2020, but I am confident that the attitude that permeates this thread will keep it competitive.

I agree.  I think we are at the stage where Trump should be in jail.  However, there are a few who should be in jail prior to him--notably, Ivanka, Don Jr. and Eric--not to mention Roger Stone and Carter Page.

Impeachment is a political process, whereas the Special Counsel is on a legal quest.  We don't have a lot of experience with running both efforts at once, but it's time we sent them on different paths.  Congress needs to do it's own separate investigation, The DOJ (Special Counsel) aside.  The investigation toward impeachment must start now!

We keep hearing how there are two, parallel processes in the legal and political.  That's fine, as long as they don't conflict.  If the DOJ can inform Congress, it should.  If there are any legal reasons it cannot inform or work with Congress, then keep doing its own work, but get out of the way!

This is supposed to be a democracy.  The democratic process is supposed to be as important as the legal process.  Certain people want to hold back the political processes because certain sensitive legal matters are going on, and the political might interfere.  That game is over.  Congress should be unfettered to inform it's superiors—the people—as to what is going on.  As long as it is derived from their own investigation, the legal processes should step aside.

Remember, you've gotta impeach first, then prosecute.  So the political fact-finding must receive first priority.  It should begin right away, and as of now, be unfettered.

The Americans that I know and who express varying degrees of support for Trump may be wrong in my opinion (I actually said so had you bothered to read my post properly) but they are not in any way "scumbags". Perhaps Lurker might care to look a little more closely towards his own coterie of social media friends for qualifiers for that particular title.
