Dennis Rodman: Nuclear Summit is no big deal
"People shouldn't expect so much," Dennis Rodman is quoted as saying on arriving at the airport in Singapore.
Rodman was referring to the nuclear summit meeting between pussy-grabber and Kim Jong Un. Rodman, a close friend of the North Korean leader, was in the country to witness talks between Kim and Trump.
Rodman was minimizing the meetings, which indicates that he thinks not much can be accomplished.
Many observers agree with him. Trump insists that North Korea denuclearize, while observers and pundits expect the North Koreans to insist that the US vacate their 30,000 troops from the peninsula.
The US administration expects that the parties will be playing off sanctions that have denied food, fuel and consumer goods from the North Korean people for decades. However, North Korea recognizes that such 'trinkets and beads' can be turned on and off like a spigot, and that limiting themselves to such measures would leave them at the mercy of the US.
The North Koreans are most likely to insist on measures to guarantee their own safety. and this inevitably means that the 30,000 US troops stationed in South Korea be removed. Otherwise, North Korea has no incentive to give up their nuclear weapons, their only security.
The hand of the US is not helped by Trump's inability to keep his word. He has reneged on the Iran nuclear deal, which is the template for any meaningful deal with North Korea. Furthermore, just this past weekend Trump pulled the US out of an agreement over international trade at the G-6 (plus 1) meeting in Canada. He sent the following tweet:
Any world leader that expects to negotiate with Trump, must take into consideration his vacillatory nature. He does not think things through beforehand, and as a result he changes his mind frequently.

Re: Dennis Rodman: Nuclear Summit is no big deal
I think what Rodman said is true
People are saying dumb shit like the summit will lead to world peace...
really we might see a minor player give up their open nuclear ambitions.
China will be very happy with Kim if he can get the US Troops out of the region.

Speaking of "trinkets and beads," I remember back in 1992 there was this trend at my high school for guys to dress like hippies after the Doors movie came out. All the teen fashion stores at the mall sold paisley shirts and big baggy, bell-bottom style jeans, and me and my male classmates started wearing beaded necklaces that we made at home with thread and beads from craft shops.
Then one day a girl in my class started giggling, and we asked her why and she said, "I'm just picturing all you macho guys sitting at home, making little bead necklaces!" She erupted into laughter and the style was over pretty quickly after that.
But those bead necklaces were cool, man! And now you can't even find them anymore.
I'm going to start a GoFundMe.
