This is great news. Let's hope this now takes all the tension of nuclear bombs away.

A bit of a sudden suspicious turn around on the part of the North Korean Dictator though isn't it?
A commentator this morning reckons Kim is a man with a cunning plan.

Do we thank Trump for calling his bluff, or the Chinese for "leaning on him" ?

I think Trump had a lot to do with this, he called his bluff and Kim backed down.

I don't think this is the end at all
I think this is just a 'move' by Kim
he Doesn't care about the USA but he can't cope with china 'leaning' on him (to borrow the term from nicko) this is a warning shot to China, saying that he could make a deal which allows significant increase in US military presence on the peninsula, which is just north of the 'disputed' south china seas. And China doesn't want that

I think that Kim warming up to Moon is strategic. With the Trump meeting on the horizon, and Trump himself breaking deals all over (TPP, Iran, NATO, etc.), Kim does not want this to become him and Trump. He needs friends who care...and a warm, fuzzy relationship with Moon is perfect.
Trump is a deal breaker, not a deal maker. His singular tactic is the 'walk-away', whereby he continues to say 'no' until the deal he wants comes along. The problem with this tactic is, you have to have another side that wants to keep coming back with proposals. If the other side doesn't give a crap, you end up with...well, the other side walking away and negotiations cut-off.
When 'walk-away' negotiations begin with Trump, Kim wants another person in the room to continue with negotiations. This is the closest he's come to anything resembling an end to the stalemate. Pussy-grabber is first and foremost a selfish grabber, and that could shoot down the whole possibility of a deal. The formula is to use Trump, and then shove him aside. Kim is using Trump as a springboard to begin talks with relevant people. When Trump is no longer useful, he will be jettisoned.
Kim (or someone) is impressing me on the North Korean side. He's quite clever.

But what if you are wrong and it took an unhinged loon to bring down a lesser unhinged loon?
Wil, you then thank Trump, for doing what no other President has ever done?
Like i said, it takes someone more unhinged to take down someone unhinged

It's just a theory. Like all hypotheses, it might be wrong. The trick is, when it's time to decide, don't be wrong.
This is like military strategy that the Pentagon does all the time. Maybe you have a theory too, and we can lay them out side-by-side and hone it until we come up with a solution.
Trump is not strategist. He is a blunderbuss in a turkey shoot. As soon as the play becomes more subtle, we've got to be ready with more subtle play ourselves. What plan would you propose? Try...it could be a winner.

The thing is Quill, I do not mind being wrong. You claimed before, you are never wrong
Trump is an idiot, but sadly it takes an idiot, to bring down another idiot

Correction: I said that if you strive never to be wrong, then you will more often be right than wrong. Most people are intellectually lazy, and spout off without researching or thinking about the subject. Your point was, everyone should have equal proportions of wrongness. The correct way is to be sure (make your best effort) you are right, then speak your piece.
I remember that discussion. Your position was that everyone should be willing to admit they were wrong. That, without regard for the truth of the matter.
My retort was, why not go to work to properly research the matter and come to your best determination of right and wrong. Admittedly, all truth is corrigible. But that should lead you to strive, and to elevate your understanding of truth, rather than just giving up and admitting defeat as your position does.

What I say about developing and considering hypotheses is the way that proper consideration is done. No hypothesis is ipso facto correct at proposal, but it should be considered, tested (if possible) and rated.
Declaring a winner without going through some sort of rigorous methodology is just wrong.

KiKim Jong-un:North Korea to allow foreign experts to witness nuclear site closure in May.

I really am quite stunned at all this. It took an unhinged loon in Trump to call the bluff of another unhinged loon in Kim Jong-un. People may argue against capitalism, but its one sure way to keep people in check, because people clearly like to live a good lifestyle.
Quill must be praying to his leftist God, that this all falls through. As he must be hating the fact, that Trump, could end up bringing lasting peace to the region. Imagine Trump getting a Noble Peace Prize?

The Nobel prize should go to South Korean President Moon Jae-in for rapprochement with North Korea:
Hopefully, they will accomplish something before Trump manages to blow things up.
Trump has done nothing but make demands: complete nuclear disarmament (for them, not us) tops his list. It is the North Korean nuclear capacity that has occasioned this rapprochement; Trump is just the whinger who comes after the fact. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that the administration will not put anything on the table short of complete denuclearization by North Korea. So, once again, as I said above, Trump is inartful in creating incentives for negotiation. His sole talent in negotiations is to ask what's in it for him...and walk away when he doesn't hear what he wants.
My expectation is that Trump will walk-away and nothing will get accomplished by his efforts. Moon, however, appears to be quite a good negotiator. I have high expectations that things will come from South Korea.
President Moon can accomplish as much as Trump, and become the hero in the process. After all, it's his country, and his region that is at stake. Japan will also applaud Moon's accomplishments, and a new Nobel prize winner will be anointed.
