I'm just watching a programme about music in the sixties and seventies - Jimi Hendrix, Cream et al and I can't help feeling sorry for those who didn't experience the best of the sixties and seventies music, sans drugs of course, although no doubt the music makers were up to their eyeballs in whatever. There was something magical/mystical about those times for many of us, even us ordinary folk ,Which is/are your favourite decades for music.

To be fair, I like music from the 50s on through the 90s and I like a lot of music today, but I didn't think much of what came out between 2000 and 2010.

I tend not to like a specific type of music, there is music from the 30 and 40's that I rather like as well as into the 1990's, I used to listen to a radio programme on Sundays while cleaning out the stables and kennels that played music from the 50's right through to whatever was current which kept me in touch with whatever was happening at the time, which is where I first heard Kasabian and Kings of Leon. If its got a driving beat I usually like it.

Can't beat the late 50s and the 60s, todays "music" seems to be all screaming and shouting, no lyrics to speak of. I like a song that tells a story, for example "El Paso" by Marty Robbins. I remember my Dad moaning about Elvis and Cliff, I suppose it's an "age" thing.

I think now is.
up until now you only ever got a fraction of the music because it needed record studios and labels etc. Now you just need a YouTube account and a couple of hundred bucks worth of equipment beyond your instruments and home computer.

mind you it also means you get a lot of crap. But there a definitely Guitarists on YouTube better than Hendrix.
