stones
In agony today, Kidney stone has moved out of Kidney and is stuck in Ureter, saw Doctor 3 weeks ago made appointment for scan, not received it yet, when had Scan have to wait how long for OP? One thing after another, had enough now.

Sorry to hear this Nicko. Is there anything you can take to break down the kidney stones?

Re: stones
My OH peed a kidney stone out a few years ago...he said it was agony, but it was an efficient way of getting rid of it.
Hope you get your scan soon Nicko.

Re: stones
Been reading on Net to take, [among other things] Cider Vinegar in water. I tried that with the last stone I had, nothing happened. Doctor says only thing that works is Surgery. I'v gone back on Morphine, it helps a little.

What were the other things you read about online? Surgery isn’t the ONLY answer, surely?

They do something to break them up. I think it's sonic waves.
I pissed one about a year ago. Fuck me that sucked. First time I missed two days of work on 30 years. Nothing like peeing out about 10% of the water you drink, while the other 90% backs up to your ears.

Correct. Breaks them down and then easier to pee out. Saves having surgery. Depends on how big the stone is to begin with.
I’ve had friends who have had it done in the UK Nicko, so it’s worth asking about. Good luck x

Re: stones
Bit better this morning, dosed up on Tramadol.
First stone 20 years ago in left Kidney removed by Lithotripter, sound waves broke it up. Problem was bits got trapped in Ureter, pain was indescribable. Had tube inserted in Kidney down to bag for urine to take pressure off Ureter till bits were passed. Next stone was in Right Kidney, broken up by Laser, bits passed easily. Now stones back in Left Kidney!Have to go through it all again. Life's a Bitch a'int it?

"Ultrasonic"
As long as they can find the stone in the right place to zap it, they can break it down..
https://www.kidney.org/atoz/content/kidneystones_shockwave
It has been a common treatment down here for a few years as well.
My father had kidney stones, but I've avoided them so far; (he was put on a low oxalic acid/oxalate food diet, to reduce the risk of them re-occurring..). He had the surgery that nicko talks of, as it was a decade or two before they started using that "shockwave" treatment down here.

Best of luck for a speedy solution, old pal.
I have aortic stenosis. The NHS has known about it for 18 months and I'm scheduled for a valve replacement. . I'm lucky in that I'm in the catchment area for one of the best heart hospitals in the world and am on their waiting list. Sometime. Maybe. I hope. Otherwise I might not make the end of the year.
Meanwhile, my dog has been just been diagnosed with a possible abdominal tumour. Her appointment is Friday of this week.

Poor you. You probably know this already but....
Basil contains acetic acid, which helps to break down the kidney stones and helps to reduce pain. It also lowers uric acid levels, which reduces your risk for future stones.
Use fresh or dried basil leaves to make a tea and drink several cups per day. You may also juice fresh basil or add it to a smoothie.
Celery juice clears away toxins that contribute to kidney stone formation. It also helps flush out the body so you can pass the stone.
Blend one or more celery stalks with water, and drink the juice throughout the day.
You shouldn’t drink this mixture if you have:
any bleeding disorder
low blood pressure
a scheduled surgery
You also shouldn’t drink this mixture if you’re taking:
levothyroxine (Synthroid)
lithium (Lithane)
medications that increase sun sensitivity, such as isotretinoin (Sotret)
sedative medications, such as alprazolam (Xanax)
Pomegranate juice can help improve overall kidney function, as well as flush stones and other toxins from your system.
It also lowers your urine’s acidity level. Lower acidity levels reduce your risk for future kidney stones.
There’s no limit to how much pomegranate juice you can drink throughout the day.
You shouldn’t drink pomegranate juice if you’re taking:
medications changed by the liver
blood pressure medications, such as chlorothiazide (Diuril)
rosuvastatin (Crestor)
Make dietary changes to shrink stones. Since kidney stones are caused by the buildup of certain minerals, eating fewer foods containing these minerals can help to shrink the stones. This is especially effective if you have either calcium or uric acid stones.
If you have calcium stones, cut back on the following foods that make the problem worse: salty foods, dairy products, oysters, tofu, and fatty foods.[5] If you have calcium oxalate stones, you should avoid foods high in oxalate, like rhubarb, grapes, spinach, sweet potatoes, coffee, and chocolate.
If you have uric acid stones, cut back on the following foods containing uric acid: organ meat like liver and kidney, anchovies, sardines, beans, mushrooms, spinach, cauliflower, yeast, and alcohol.
Drink beverages containing lemons every day. Whether you drink real lemonade, lemon juice, lemon-lime drinks or just water with a few lemon slices, the acidic nature of citrus helps so that kidney stones do not form.
