On that we agree, Didge. Whilst I am 95% against the death penalty, predominantly  due to the fear of a miscarriage  of justice, this is one case where it could be justified.

No question of guilt.
No remorse.  
Every chance of repeat offending if ever paroled.

No doubt Allakaka, Stormee and Skunk Bandit will be venting their fury over this sentence, I wonder what Tommy Boy thinks.

Australia effectively abolished the death penalty more than 40 years ago (except for extreme/serious cases of 'treason' during wartime..). The last person executed, was by hanging in 1967..

There are several mass murderers and serial killers, a few serial rapists and sex offenders, and a handful of terrorists down here, whose sentences are for the term of their natural life, with their files apparently marked "never to be released" or equivalent/similar wording, or who have such long sentences they're not likely to live long enough.


Personally, I'm opposed to capital punishment in general, outside of wartime, on the grounds that so many innocents, or at least not guilty of the charges, have been summarily executed for either political reasons, or to give a handful of people a sense of revenge..

I don't see why the British courts couldn't have given Osborne a "life" sentence in this case ?

Michael Adebowale got 45 years for the murder of Lee Rigby, so should he have got a whole life tariff too?

I think he did. There was a law passed that said he will get life, meaning he will never come out. Even though at court he was given 45 years he will never be free.

Thing is, is it cheaper to keep a 90 year old in prison or in an elderly care home?
At least in prison bad things can still happen to him.

What the fuck are you talking about? I haven’t posted there in 3 years, maybe longer.

And no quite frankly I’m taking my ire out on the right person. They don’t matter but you have this unhealthy obsession with them and frankly it tarnishes all the good that you post up.
