personally I think you have to go a long way to beat Black adder didn't like 1 but 2, 3 and 4 are brilliant.

loved not the nine oclock news, love black adder, some of pythons was hilarious others were awful..the two ronnies were brilliant..

Don't be a pillock, Andy. Of course I watched it, my parents watched and I had little say what was viewed. And of course it had racist undertones, Eddie Booth was a vile character, as was Garnett, the people they played were too stupid to be true, their racist views always caused them to lose credibility and they became the laighing stock and joke.
The real irony was in brilliant writing by Johnny Speight when Garnett was in need of a carer - who turned out to be black and gay - and finally cut through Garnetts bigotry to earn grudging respect.

Agreed Stephen.
Like you, I have no problem with a comedy show that I do not 'get'.

That said, looking for laughs at the expense of prejudice, whether it is race, skin colour, religion, disability or sexuality is simply last resort script writing.
I prefer brilliant, witty scripts with great characterisations, which can turn everyday situations into disasters and farces.
Imo, the stars of the best comedies are the writers.

Which is why I abhor "stars" such as Johnathon Ross, who is as funny as lung cancer.
