Aeth cariad i'w gweled yn lân a phur lencyn,
Ond codai'r ysgweiar yn araf ac erch,

A'i ergyd yn wyrgam i fynwes ei ferch.
Rhy hwyr ydoedd galw y saeth at y llinyn
Â'r llances yn marw yn welw a gwan;
Bygythiodd ei gleddyf trwy galon y llencyn,
Ond ni redai cariad un fodfedd o'r fan.

Re: oh bugger....
Hmmmm, fair concerns mate, but how well do you know the languages of Lord of the Rings?
Some of them are based on Celtic langauges.
That must help?
Piture learning the song, as if it was part of Lord of the Rings?
(wtch some youtube vids to learn how it is spoken as well)
Come on mate, you can build anything. Apply the same thought process to this, as it being a challenge.
Good luck

Don't be insulted, but you are a tad of a perfectionist mate.
I have seen your great skills and the heart you put into your work, when you build and create something.
Its something I greatly admire.
You are taking this angle here, from some friends you have met, that you need to be perfect here in not only getting this right, language wise but in tune and sounding well.
Let me put your fears to rest.
They won't care whther you can sing in tune or get it right or be perfect.
Its you placing this massive expectation on yourself, not them.
He is busting your balls, as an Englishman. As he has played to the very sensitivities you have.
Perfection (not knocking, as its what makes you great)
He just wants you to be a part of their celebrations and knows you will do your best mate
Yes practice, but its the negativity that is stopping you here and not allowing you to belt it out, when the time comes.
It really does not matter how you sound, which is not the problem. As I bet to you, its all about if you sound it perfectly in welsh..
You seem to place a high status bar for yourself... No need mate
They will be just pleased that you wanted to be a part of their traditions and tried.

Re: oh bugger....
Enjoying someone singing isn't about them hitting the right notes. It's about passion.
If you enjoy it - everyone else will. That's a given.
