California Lawmakers Vote to Become Sanctuary State
California lawmakers on Saturday sent Gov. Jerry Brown a bill that would make the state a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants by limiting local law enforcement’s cooperation with immigration authorities. The measure, approved by California’s legislature during its last session of the year Friday, will take effect Jan. 1 if Brown signs it. Brown expressed support for the measure after it underwent several rounds of amendments that align the legislation with the state’s Trust Act, an anti-deportation law. The law pits California authorities against the Trump administration, which continues to push for a crackdown on undocumented immigrants and has threatened to withhold federal funding for any cities or states using “sanctuary” policies. A federal judge in Chicago issued a nationwide temporary injunction late Friday blocking the administration from withholding funding to sanctuary cities, however.

Imagine the potential impact on the California economy if the Dumpster managed to deport Mexicans from over there...
All of those farmhands, housemaids, minimum wage and seasonal workers..

Re: California Lawmakers Vote to Become Sanctuary State
This is a very significant event. The more we can drive a wedge between California and the United States, the more it becomes apparent that California does not belong in the US.
If California went independent, it would probably be stronger, and even perhaps wealthier than what remained. It would certainly be morally superior, not to mention civicly advanced.
What this event shows is that California's population sides with the Hispanic peoples. If we don't even have the same public sentiment and general belief system as the US, how can we be a part of the same nation?
PS: It appears that the other states bordering on the Pacific Ocean agree with us, as they join in every lawsuit, every political movement, and every sentiment that Californians have. Consider: if we got the other Pacific states to join us, the tail might wag the dog. Nothing violent...just a peaceful negotiation, just as Trump loves to engage in.

When it comes to Federal expenditure on the West coast/Pacific states over there, they probably find themselves in pretty much the same position as NSW and WA do down here...
Paying more in taxes than they get back in Federal Spending.. ???
I would imagine that California, Texas and Washington state are among the biggest tax contributors ?

The biggest net 'contributors' to the US tax base are New York and California. The largest cradles of commerce in the US are (1) the tri-state corridor (Connecticut, New York and New Jersey), and (2) the San Francisco Bay Area (including Silicon Valley).
