No drivers
There's talk of allowing non driver cars and lorries on our roads and Motorways, I think it's a stupid idea, anyone else agree, yes or no and why?

Re: No drivers
Why would any one want to sit in a car and not be in control of it? I like driving, have been doing it for 60 yrs , motor bike and Car. Took advanced driving test 5 yrs ago, first class pass !

I don't like the idea of a driverless car at all.

Safer than letting any human behind the wheel, it's a simple fact that it ALREADY is and will get safer and safer.
all the fears above are unfounded.

Re: No drivers
If they're in a convoy, what happens if the first one overtakes, do they all follow?

Re: No drivers
1. no unless safe to do so.
2. nothing, they will handle it (already do) much better than humans, if we had all AI cars there would no need to be traffic lights as they would signal each other to adjust speeds to void collisions
3. already handles it 100s of times better than humans, already basic AI driver is as good as top F1 race drivers
the bigger reasons is AI is always alert, never tired, never drunk or high. has depth perception and distance calculations 100's of time better than humans. will obey road laws, not selfish.

Re: No drivers
we don't have to wait long that's the point.
we just need all the old fuddy duddy cry babies to Shut up and let the future get on with it.
It is hard to imagine it getting any worse than having Humans drive, how many thousands of preventable deaths world wide will stop if we stop letting dumb hairless apes behind the wheel of a car that that their primitive brain cant really comprehend or control to sufficient level to prevent death.
