Tell him to get over it.
It's just business.

If they only want to interview people of a certain age, they're probably breaking the law anyway.

Seems a pretty low pay rate for a "full time" admin' position...
Full time labourers and cleaners will make more than that in many places..

Also with that list of skills, you could get a better job

Too true, that...
Who would want to work for some penny-pinching whinging scamming theatre owners, expecting to pay a minimum wage for a skilled admin' job..
When they could easily get more pay for doing less, and likely with a better boss and better conditions ?
The owner of that theatre sounds like a bit of a "chancer" to me..
Reminds of those greedy half-witted bosses who advertise for a school leaver with 5 years experience to work as a "assistant shop manager" for minimum pay; or a 17-year-old with a semi-trailer licence, forklift ticket and/or 3 years excavator experience; or a part-time house cleaner willing to work for $5/hour...
These examples may seem downright ridiculous, as well as obviously illegal -- but, these are actual examples that I saw in the Newcastle Herald around 15 to 25 years ago !!!

That's what I mean about, It's just business. Doesn't the guy believe in free enterprise? The employees just got a better offer.
What? Is he some kind of socialist rabble?

Are you people mad...!?
The pay offered was between 300-400 pounds a week!
For a school leaver/under 25 yr old to earn that for a bit of general admin work is pretty good going...!
And well over min wage rate!!!

His expectations included a lot more than general admin work
I believe most of the responses, that the theater is a bunch of day dreaming artists that expect others to be poor, so they can produce 'art' while failing to successfully run a business, it has only ever been able to stay open by relying on grants, a.k.a. full blown socialism.

The employers say they 'need a grafter, who can commit' and who will be 'the absolute dogs in office skills.'
Prospective applicants must have 'the ability to run a paper filing system as well as a computerised one, the ability to complete and keep track of a huge to-do list, to make our office work, create and develop business management systems that help the business to grow.'
that is a 50K job (in pounds) alone.
and they ALSO want
top notch office skills in legacy and modern office systems.... that's got to be at least 40K

Yep...
The job advert' might ask for a 17/18 year old admin' assistant, in theory..
In practice, however, their job dscription is for an office manager with filing/organisation experience, computer skills, and management planning ability..
Like I said earlier, those employers are a bunch of penny-pinching chancers.
And obviously as thick as shit !!!

I have degrees in Business information systems a.k.a the qualifications that trains you to "create and develop business management systems that help the business to grow."
I wouldn't even consider a job that only paid 50K.
50K is the rate if you only have 2 or 3 years experience doing that.
like quill said the 'it's the market' and in demand skills can command high pay

Re: 'Dear Millennials, we have not been impressed so far': Frustrated theatre owners slate today's young workers in job advert for a 'grafter who can commit'
Tommy is the one in "dreamland"...
£50k is roughly $80,000 AUD...
$80k is the minimum that a genuine "office/admin' manager" will earn in a middle-sized small business in Sydney these days (Only pay bananas, expect to get monkeys..).
Mechanics, electricians and experienced carpenters are on a similar wicket. While coal miners and quarry workers out in the regions can double that..
IF workers in Tommy's neighbourhood aren't earning close to that, then they really are being ripped off by those greedy 'chancer' bosses over there !!!
