Ban on knives being delivered to shoppers' doors proposed by Government
Online shoppers will have to collect knives in person rather than having them delivered to their homes under Government proposals to clamp down on sales to children and teenagers. It is already an offence to sell knives to under-18s but the planned measures would mean they cannot be delivered to private property, such as the buyer's home.
Ministers say this would make it harder for under-age purchases to go undetected following warnings online age verification checks can be sidestepped. Under the plans anyone who bought a knife on the internet would be required to collect it at a store or another physical premises.

That is fair enough if the Online sites can't do a good enough age verification.
Can you get alcohol online delivered?

Many young punks won't buy their own knives, anyway...
The easiest and most convenient source for weapons like knives (and scissors) would be to grab
one out of the kitchen on their way out..

The man who killed Lee Rigby bought his at Argos.
Knives are everywhere, we need them to eat with as well.
Stopping them being delivered to teens won't stop this, they'll just get a knife out of the drawer!

More useless rubbish...
What is needed is more stop and search and instant 3 months prison for those caught carrying knives...

It's to cut down on illegals sales of knives. All retailers have to follow the law.

The overwhelming vast majority of the knives carried are not aquired by home delivery from supermarkets anyway... so this is all just useless kneejerk action to solve nothing but to appear to be doing something, while skirting round the real issue which is the actual cretins themselves who are carrying the knives, and the fact that lefty softly softly style policing isnt working and whats needed is more stop and search and enforcement of instant 3 months prison for anyone caught!!!

Re: Ban on knives being delivered to shoppers' doors proposed by Government
As an aside, whenever we see reports of savage maulings by pit bulls, staffie crosses, and various other obstreporous dog breeds, there is a quick demand from certain quarters for tighter animal controls and outright bans and life jail terms for their owners...
Yet over there in Britain, over the last few years the #1 animal responsible for human deaths have been cows !
Down here, it is horses;
over in the USA it has been Mooses/Elk/other deer (the "Bambi Effect" in action, where idiots think they can approach and pat wild animals.).
WHEN are we going to see the same controls, ownership restrictions and limits placed on cows, horses and mooses that we see being applied to knives and guns ?!?

What are you waffling on about you cretin...!?
The official sentencing guidelines for judges since 2008 have made clear that their "starting point for the lowest level of knife possession amongst adults should be 12 weeks' custody".

Chopsticks are dangerous, one in the eye would spoil your day.
What about hands? I was trained to kill with mine, almost any object can be used to kill or disable.
Stop and search is the only way !

Re: Ban on knives being delivered to shoppers' doors proposed by Government
Why are they called 'chop sticks' when you cant chop anything with them...?
But they could be used as a weapon to stab someone in the eye/face/neck etc, as Nicko already said... should they be restricted too...?
Also... if a thug cant get a knife (which they will still be able to do), they may choose to grab a screwdriver or chisel instead... or a hammer, or a bat... are they all to be restricted too...?
Then what if the thug chooses to use a length of a tree branch as a club... or a rock from the ground... or half a house brick...?
What if thug uses a tin of baked beans to bludgeon people with after squirting chilli sauce into their eyes...?
Are we to start restricting and licensing them too...!?

Exactly. Didn't the Yorkshire ripper fill a sock with stones to whack his victims with...should we ban socks to be on the safe side.
Certain things should be restrictive to buy...acid for egs, but almost anything can be used as a weapon if a person has intent to injure others.

Which is why the blame must be fully on the actual perpetrators, not side tracked into arguments for more restriction/regulation of whatever weapon of choice they may have used...!

And chisels, as well...
Don't want them to start feeling left out, if it starts to look like those screwdrivers, knives and scissors are getting all of that extra attention..
