Perhaps Mia still grieves because the parents have obviously never gotten over the death of her twin....and the sadness is being picked up by the little girl.
Losing a child must be the worst thing in the world, but perhaps the parents...4 years on, could help Mia more by the way they act in front of her.
If her dad is still so consumed with grief he cant attend Mia's school events, and if on her birthdays she sees her parents in floods of tears because her twin brother isn't there....well its no wonder the child is sad.

The parents are lucky to still have Mia so they should hide their pain from her and feel lucky they still have a child to lavish their love and affection on.
