"In the office, the leasing consultant insisted upon letting Tori take her picture to show "how inappropriate" her bathing suit was, and instructed her to look into a mirror at her own body. When my fiancée replied with "I know what I look like, I bought this myself, it's not a thong" the consultant told Tori that if she didn't have kids herself, she wouldn't understand.
She was told that the leasing consultant wouldn't want her own kids around Tori. When Tori explained that yes, she does indeed have a larger butt than a lot of people, and that 95% of the things she wears ride up when she walks, the woman told Tori that a "normal bathing suit covers your entire butt" and again deemed my fiancée's body inappropriate.
She was told that her body, because it's built more curvy than others is "too inappropriate" for children to be around. She was told "there are a lot of teenage boys in this complex, and you don't need to excite them."
He added: "Today my fiancée was told that she is less important than how men feel around her. That Tori is less important than a man's urges to be sexual towards her."

The complex deny the girl was asked to leave or change her costume, she was just asked to wear a towel if she was walking around.

I read this in the paper, bloody ridiculous. Women should be allowed to wear what they like without worrying about children. As long as her body is fully covered tbh. Mind you women go topless on beaches, no one bats an eyelid.

There is nothing wrong with the costume btw it looks lovely imo.

I don't know...I think this argument about young boys getting turned on is totally misplaced. Who cares what the reaction is, wrong is wrong. If you don't like her bathing suit, don't look to others to justify it.

Either don't have any clothing restrictions, and allow her to go nude, or make her wear some Victorian bathing suit...it doesn't matter, whatever you choose. But don't tell her that you are mandating her dress because of someone else's reaction. Restrict the children from looking, fgs, if that's a problem. It's their actions...it's their problem.

I agree that if she was told the swimsuit wasn't appropriate because her body was curvy and it would excite young boys that's incredibly insulting.
Some young boys can get excited by anything, so if dress code was dictated by a lads reaction young girls would be wearing tents and yashmaks in the baths. Rolling Eyes

The company have a different version of events, this is their response.

"Smoky Crossing is a welcoming family community. Multiple residents within our community complained and expressed concerns regarding Ms. Jenkins' swimwear. In accordance with our pool policies, which are posted near the swimming area, one of our leasing consultants requested Ms. Jenkins wrap a towel around herself when she was walking around the pool. Ms. Jenkins was never asked to leave the pool.
In addition, our leasing agent did not state that Ms. Jenkins' swimwear would 'excite teenage boys.'
Ms. Jenkins and Mr. Newman are valued members of our community. However, we feel it is inappropriate to equate requesting Ms. Jenkins to cover up with sexual harassment or 'rape culture.' Smoky Crossing denounces harassment in all forms."

In all honesty, I cant quite believe that a person in authority would be so crass as to use teenage lads excitement as a monitor of how a young woman should dress.

It would be interesting to see what the pool policy re dress code...which they say is posted up near the swimming pool area actually says.

It is the same suit...the photos were taken in the managers office.. which would be veryhumiliating for the girl.

If the rule replies to all I agree they can choose which dress code is appropriate.
But you cant pick and choose what should or should not be worn depending on a womans figure shape.....which it seems is the point of this womans complaint.

People in my local swimming baths wear bikinis that are far, far more revealing than that. They spend more time fiddling with their bits and pieces than actually swimming. I don't get it. I go to swimming to do some serious kickass swimming so I wear a proper sports onepiece, also a nose clip and ear plugs.....jeez, thinking about it, I bet I look a proper mess. Shocked

Secondly... where is it that you go where all these scantily clad ladies are, in their skimpy tight fitting and highly revealing swimwear...?

Just so i can know where to avoid going, so i wouldnt have to see such sights while trying to have a sensible swim myself... I dont think the speedos could take it...!!!
