CCTV footage shows the shocking moment a man was hit by a bus on the street in Reading. Simon Smith was knocked to the ground by the vehicle while walking along Gun Street. He was able to get back on his feet afterwards and suffered only minor injuries. No arrests have been made. Reading Buses say it was an awful incident which is being investigated internally.

Roads are for vehicles, pavements for pedestrians.
He was very lucky.

Um...that bus was clearly out of control. It was driving over the center line and hit a lot more than the pedestrian, which makes walking in the street pale in comparison. It took out some scaffolding and a part of the building.
I assume the driver will be charged with driving recklessly and sentenced according to the damage he created.

The bus went onto the pavement. I can't believe he just got up and sort of strolled away.

The pedestrian was to his left of the sidewalk demarcation, so the bus was in the wrong going off the road and onto the sidewalk.
I'm amazed the bus didn't hit the light post...there but for fortune, I guess. It looks for all the world like the driver fell asleep.

It hit the front of a building too by the look of it, and then swerved out into the road.
