Sorry I haven't been around much or I'd have noticed it was three days ago. I normally keep my eye on the birthdays.

Hey...thanks eds and Syl. We had a wonderful day. Took day off and spent it delightfully browsing book stores and sipping lattes in sidewalk cafes around here.

Veya, got a book on the history of the Panama Canal. Also, a book on the dynamics/relationship between Elizabeth I and her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots.

The Suez Canal 's history is quite an interesting read too. It explains so much. Thank heavens for history books or else how would people know about these things?
I forgot that the 'O' in your username stands for 'Original'. For a minute I thought it stood for 'Old'. Hence why I wrote 'young' Quill hahaha

Yes, I received my doctorate in British History...or, the history of British philosophy. The history of the Suez Canal is fascinating because it stood for the end of an era...the British Colonial Empire. But a couple of years ago I thought, all this on Britain, what about your own country?
So I've started going through the history of the US. Several writers/historians I'm trying to go through: David McCullough and Doris Kearns Goodwin are a couple of the better ones. The book on the Panama Canal was by McCullough, Path Between the Seas. Kearns-Goodwin wrote the best biography of Abraham Lincoln I've ever read, Team of Rivals.
