Brexit Makes Gibraltar’s Future Uncertain As EU Negotiating Position Gives Spain Veto
Brexit could threaten Gibraltar’s future as a British overseas territory, as the EU has said it would give Spain a veto on how any deal would apply to the territory. Known as “the rock”, Gibraltar is home to 30,000 people. Though it is off southern Spain, it has been British for more than 300 years, and arguments over its status have caused tensions between the two countries.
The residents, who are British citizens, voted 96% Remain in the June referendum.

Seems like the EU is ganging up on the UK
Like I said before, the Uk is now in a far weaker position.

See how the eu is again being part of the problem...!?
Gibraltar is part of the uk and is leaving the eu on exactly the same terms as every other part of the uk.
Spain has no more say over Gibraltar than Morocco has over the canary islands!!!

East Timor split away from Indonesia...
And East Timor has oil.. What does Gibraltar have to offer ?
On the other hand, Chechnya wants to break away from Russia; but Russia won't let it go..
Giving the residents of Gibraltar a referendum -- Stay in the UK, or become part of Spain -- might prove to be a 'softer' option than going to war against Spain..

Actually it seems that the English are the problem as per usual
You think because you have oppressed all these others for so long they have to do what you say when you out vote them (obviously since they have less population) 98% voted stay in EU in Gibraltar.
I think it is time the EU just over threw the English

Wrong again... Gibraltar is part of the uk and the uk voted to leave the eu...
Although gibraltar has had a referendum back in 2002 on whether they want Spain to have sovereignty over them and they voted almost 100% saying NO!!!
They want to be British... and Britain voted to leave the eu.

What if they now do not want to be be British and become independent, when the majority voted to remain in the EU?

Scotland just had a referendum on being part of uk or not... and had a clear majority result to remain in the uk...
Gibraltar had a referendum on their sovereignty back in 2002 and voted almost 100% to stay British only.

in 2092?
Did they have a Tardis Tommy?
The 2002 vote is now 15 years old and there is a whole mass of the next generation of voters.
So are you against self determination?

It was 15 years ago, that means miles more people are now of a voting age, than then and now some are dead that voting then.
That is a reasonable time to hold a referendum or for Gibraltar to remain British but still within the EU.
So again are you against self determination

Gibraltar is British and the people there voted 97% in favour of keeping it that way back in 2002... I think that's pretty conclusive...

That does not mean they can not vote again.
You are denying people who were not old enough to vote back then, now have a say in their future.
Its not down to you to decide but for the people of Gibraltar.

And now they can then vote to leave, based on self determination or asked to remain part of the EU.
And those 30,000 have every right to a say in their future.
Its not down to you.

What facts?
That you seem to think a referendum 15 years ago should deny people a say in their future, where many of them never got the chance to vote. Where they did vote recently, they overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU. That is cause to hold a second referendum with self determination or for Gibraltar to remain British but within the EU.

15 years ago is a very long time, considering now many people who were unable to vote, now can
Again you are denying the self determination of the people of Gibraltar.

Yes But the English out number everyone else and only the English and welsh voted to leave. So the Whole They re part of the Uk is not even relevant, The UK was part of the EU and now your not so they can just as easily say they were part of the Uk and now they're not.
Get it through YOUR head they want to leave the ENGLISH dictatorship. and would prefer to part of the EU.

TOMMY is also ignoring the salient fact that Britain took the Rock of Gibraltar by force a few hundred years ago...
Their claim to "title" over Gibraltar is just as shaky as watching some people still claiming that the UK has some kind of dominion over former colonies such as Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, (including some old diehard "monarchists" right here in Oz).
I've even seen a couple of nongs on here over this past year, seriously claiming that Britain still "owns" Australia and New Zealand !
