A man wielding a machete and shouting "Allahu akhbar" has been shot after attacking a soldier outside the Louvre in Paris, police say.
Security forces evacuated an area around the museum in central Paris on Friday morning after a man was shot when he pulled out a weapon and tried to attack an army patrol.
A French soldier opened fire on and wounded the man, who was reportedly trying to enter the Carrousel du Louvre, an underground shopping mall under the museum.

My friends sister was there this morning, my friend text me to tell me a couple of hours ago. She's been trying to reach her sister and is only slightly unconcerned because there are no casualties.
I'll let you know if I hear anything.

The man suspected of attacking a security officer at the Louvre Museum in Paris was a resident of United Arab Emirates and traveled to Paris on a tourist visa last week, a French prosecutor said. Additionally, according to the AP, the man is in “life-threatening condition.” He was shot five times by French troops after he attempted a machete attack in the tourist-populated area and allegedly yelled, “Allahu Akbar.” France’s prime minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, called the incident “terrorist in nature.”

I keep pointing out to Tommy, that stopping immigration is not going to stop terrorism. As I have stated, even if you banned all people entering a country (tourists, logistics, business, migrants, refugees etc), which would bankrupt a nation, it would still be ineffective. As you still have the problem of homegrown terrorist. Not only that, it fails to tackle the problem at the root cause of the extremist terrorism and simply tries to push the problem away, failing to ever achieve even doing that.

He was from Egypt actually...
And stopping people who may be terrorists will not bankrupt usa, or any country.
Bit will help prevent terrorism.

He may well of been from Egypt, but he was a citizen of UAE
The travel industry made around 1.6 trillion dollars in 2015 for the US.
The tourist industry, supports over 7.6 million jobs
This not even taking in to account business and logistics and its cost to jobs and capitol, if the US close its borders.
Where anybody could be a potential terrorist.

He is Egyptian.
Temporarily bannning potential terrorists from a few high risk countries while security and vetting measures are tightened up is a drop in the ocean to tourism dodge...
And it may well prevent another plane dropping in the ocean...

1) So what if he is Egyptian, he is still a citizen of the UAE
2) Egypt and the UAE are not on the banning list Tommy
3) Which brings me back to my original points

You going to extend your list to all countries that have Muslims living in them?
Or just introduce a prejudice ban on Muslims world wide?

Who said anything about doing nothing?
Proper checks and vetting is needed, as well as good intelligence.

Trump has paused entry to people from those countries so that the checking and vetting process can be reviewed and strengthened.

Paused is a very PC way of saying banned.
Funny that
