Last time I was there, about 20 yrs ago there were hundred of turds and toilet paper floating about, and the smell------------

Pateh Sabally, a 22-year-old Gambian, was seen jumping into the water from pier
Hundreds of people witnessed the jump and at least three life rings were thrown
He refused to hold on to them, raising speculation he wanted to commit suicide
No-one jumped in to help him and racist abuse was allegedly shouted at him
Italian magistrates have now opened an investigation into the incident

Most of those people watching on probably couldn't swim anyway, even if their own life depended on it..

If it's true that he was getting racially abused as he was dying, he probably thought he'd made the right decision to leave this harsh world.
