CHINA not intimidated by Trump, China in 2017
CHINA will not be intimidated by Donald Trump as its ambitions to become a stronger military power look set to grow even further this year.
This is just one of the predictions forecast by academics and experts from the University of Sydney who spell out what issues the Asian powerhouse is likely to face in 2017.
From military disputes to economic issues, Beijing faces a number of challenges over the coming months.
China’s relationship with the Philippines will be tested as will its relationship with its northeast Asian neighbours, according to experts.
Ashley Townshend, an expert in US-China relations, predicted ongoing developments in the South China Sea will be a bone of contention between the US and China in the coming months.
But he warned Beijing would not be intimidated by the new Trump administration which had developed a more hawkish approach compared to Barack Obama’s team.
Mr Townshend, a research fellow in the University of Sydney’s United States Studies Centre, said this hard line approach risked making a Beijing a “more truculent” partner for the US.

For those that wont to have an functional economy...
Maybe it is time to pay attention to the other Important Nation?
If Trump is so keen to shut down trade, the rest of us will need to look for the opportunities that remain. (China, the EU and to a lesser extent India)

CHINA doesn't need to feel intimidated by anyone..
The world's "powerhouse" economies today are the likes of Brazil, Mexico, Canada...
Australia and Russia will go gangbusters whenever mining booms are on the up..
But Russia has too much poverty and too much ingrained corruption; while Australia doesn't have as broad and diversified an economy as the others, (at least not yet..).
China and India have the oldest continuous "civilisations" on the planet -- each going back over 7,500 years.
And governments prepared to take the long-term view..

Re: CHINA not intimidated by Trump, China in 2017
Brazil is/was (been dropping fast since 2011, now below India) but for Aussies it is a pointless market our produce is too similar (Like I was saying about the USA and UK, trade flourish easier if you produce different things) Plus like Russia there is too much poverty and concentrated wealth, Mexico has same issue, meaning the 'average consumer' doesn't have the wealth for imports.
Canada is in a similar position to Australia, it will be interesting to see if it sticks with the new TPP under China. if it does it will really be bad of the USA.
