Investigators believe Ohio State attacker was inspired by ISIS

Story highlights
Attacker's purported Facebook page had grievances about attacks on Muslims
The attacker was an 18-year-old recent transfer student
(CNN)Authorities believe the Ohio State University student responsible for Monday's attack on campus was inspired by terrorist propaganda from ISIS and deceased Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, two law enforcement sources said.
The sources point to Abdul Razak Ali Artan's Facebook posts before his short-lived rampage on the Columbus campus. The posts referenced Awlaki, who was a leader of al Qaeda in Yemen. Sources also note the style of the attack was encouraged by ISIS in a recent online magazine.

Despite claims from the Islamic State's purported media wing that Artan was an ISIS soldier, there is no indication so far that Artan communicated with any terror group; evidence points to a lone wolf attack. Investigators are inspecting his computer and cell phone and talking to family and associates, as they try to determine what led him to act.
Artan bought knives on the day of the attack, a law enforcement official said. Artan rammed his car into a group of people on the Columbus campus and then got out and charged at passersby with a knife. Ohio State University Police Officer Alan Horujko shot Artan after he failed to obey orders to stop, killing him and stopping the attack.
Of the 11 people injured three remain hospitalized, Dr. Andrew Thomas said at a news conference Tuesday. Thomas is chief medical officer of the OSU Wexner Medical Center.

When I was a child I was inspired by cowboy heroes. We had a barn on our property and that inspired me to play out the roles that we saw on Saturday morning TV. We used to mimic the likes of Ken Maynard, Tom Mix and Bob Steele.

Yes... only mentioned in a few online articles (that you would only see/find if you had already heard about the incident and then actually looked specifically for them)... but as there has been no mention of it here in general uk MSM tv/radio news broadcasts or in the newspapers etc... how would anyone know about it at all to even be trying to look up any other possible articles about it...?
I have not seen/heard any mention of this (Islamist terrorist related attack) on any uk MSM tv/radio news broadcast yet... not seen it in any papers I've read this week either...
How many uk based posters here knew about it before I posted this thread about it...?

Actually, you aren't clear at all tommy. Are you saying media companies in the UK are inadequate? Sounds like it.
If so, how does that relate to Ohio State University and the story involving that university? You seem to have lost touch with the topic of the thread.

No that was his point; that this happened and the UK media ignored it. This was blatently shown to not be true by Ben in his post above.

Re: Ohio university knife rampage by Isis Muslim - media silent here in uk
I believe what he is trying to say is that the Islamic association was not made in the British media. What Ben did was to point out several medial sources that dealt with it.
Tommy will retreat into the position of saying that denial of the association is not dealing with the connection. You have to know how his mind works.
Even the simplest question has at least two answers: yes/no. For tommy, a denial is not the subject, because he wants to answer the question yes. Analytically, he's making a statement, not genuinely asking the question.

Re: Ohio university knife rampage by Isis Muslim - media silent here in uk
This Islamic terrorist attack was not mentioned here in uk on any mainstream TV or radio news broadcast and I haven't seen any mention of it in either the 'metro' or 'evening standard' newspapers last week.
Yes there are a few articles about it online... but none of these were pushed to the forefront of public view... but instead pushed right to the bottom and out of sight of the public... ie these articles would only be seen if you actually looked specifically for them... which is highly unlikely for anyone to be doing as nobody here in uk has heard about it in the first place!!!
Simple way of confirming the lack of publicity of this attack here in uk would be for uk posters here to make a point of asking people you talk to this week if they had heard about the incident at all... and I'll bet that you don't find many (if any) who say they had...!

Do people in the UK in general really want to be kept in the loop about what's going on in Ohio?
Y'all don't have more pressing news, that an incident across the ocean needs to be banner headlines on all the local papers?

Far right types trawl the Internet for any bad news Muslim stories, it's what they do, the irony of course is the fact that these far right types are just as mental as ISIS.Bae the Cray wrote:Tommy Monk wrote:This Islamic terrorist attack was not mentioned here in uk on any mainstream TV or radio news broadcast and I haven't seen any mention of it in either the 'metro' or 'evening standard' newspapers last week.

Normally we would have seen a large amount of MSM news coverage here in uk about this for two big reasons... firstly, any school/college campus attack like this gets a lot of coverage over here... and secondly, any Islamist terrorist attack in usa also gets a lot of coverage over here...!
Very strange how this attack, that ticks two of the big boxes to warrant being a major news story here, has not had a single mention on any MSM uk tv/radio news broadcast...!?

It was reported on the BBC World News Service and Radio 5 Live.

It was also on the BBC News showing some of the videos in this on-line article. I saw it

Tommy's probably one of those prat's who starts from the back pages of the newspaper, Sports section first, and reads back towards the middle; and likely deliberately misses the beginning of news programmes, because they contain all that boring "newsy stuff..."
And then has the gall to complain that the "mainstream media" doesn't report on his pet subjects, nor spoonfeed him what he wants to hear -- and that therefore it must be a new world order conspiracy to keep true "patriots" such as himself in the dark..
Thank God for those free speech championing 'alternative news' media outlets, such as the likes of Breitbat, Stormfront, and dunderheads_R_us.
