you will find that a LOT of church pews are in fact NOT oak but in fact parannah pine

still a lovely timber and now very hard to get hold of

Vic my dad used to work in the timber trade. He was able to tell where a piece of wood came from, or what it was, by smell.
He used to win wagers at work.

yup doesnt surprise me at all eddie

every timber has its own unique smell and characteristics, and some real gifted folks can tell a lot about the timber from them...

I get prime local english air seasoned oak at £40 per cube foot
and air seasoned local larch for £10/cube foot

HOW ABOUT a piece of Scented Rosewood, open air dried for 20-30 years in a paddock out the back of Mullumbimby, legally obtained and sitting under the back of a relatives house for the past two decades ???
