This callous bastard needs to arrested for culpable homicide.
No wonder he tried to hush up the death toll on his watch.

I believe they are looking at taking him to court http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/iain-duncan-smith-police-assessing-possible-investigation-into-dwp-ministers-over-fit-to-work-tests-a7020471.html

Can IDS be taken to court though? Don't get me wrong I would like to see him dangling by his balls from a lamp post outside my local job centre plus, but can he hide behind his position as a govt minister?

Interesting to see your selfish and diffident opinion of your fallen peers.
I bet their families aren't so callous.

Its a thread in the political section.
Dont like it, ignore it. Dont demean youself.
So you agree with me about IDS.
Easier to eat himble pie and just say so.
If you only like threads that are pro rw or exreme rw, we both know a forum that fits the bill.

The CPS can prosecute ministers over this. Check out the Independent link.
IDS will be a worried man.
His junior ministers wont want to be the fall guys for his cruelty and callous policies.

It would have to be established that the people died of their disability of course, and then it would have to be established that they died as a direct result of being told they should get a job. Then there would have to be an investigation as to how many people who work actually die.
There's no mention of them actually being refused benefits, so I presume they're not dying of starvation?

Some were refused.
Some died at home, unable to afford the bus fare to the job centre.
Some died of heart conditions when they were told they had to seek wprk or lose all of their benefits.
There is a full judicial review in Scotland at present.
Dependent on the results, charges may be brought on Ministers, IDS incuded.
The link to the Independent gives the story.

2 further points , whilst we are having a proper and for us, civil, debate.
1. If only 1 person was PROVEN to have have died directly as a result of IDS's austeriry cuts, are they justified?
2. Conversely, If it can be proven that that person died DIRECTLY as a result of IDS's austerity cuts, should IDS face the full force of the law for cuplable homicide or death by neglect?
As I said IDS seems to be troubled and worried man nowadays.
When he realised there could be a shitstorm heading his way, he has backtracked on his austerity policy stating that it went too far.
I will loot it up.

I can't find references in that article to the matters you raised.
It would be very difficult to prove any kind of causal relationship if someone died of a heart condition after being told they were fit to work because they might have died anyway.
Died at home? Of what?
I'm merely trying to be logical here rather than commenting on the rights and wrongs of the actual decisions which were made.

I believe there are around 100 individual cases up before the coroner in England.
As I said, will do some researxh.
The most telling aspect is the apparent U turn by Smith.
He resigned when he asked formore money.
Disability benefits U-turn leaves Cameron with £4.4bn to find

Re: 4000+ people died when "ft to work". Ffs.
In a nutshell, IDS introduced stark and harsh austetity reforms to his DWP, means testing everyone for fitness to work, even those dying in hospices.
He was getting away with it until the threats of litigations started lsnding on his desk from families, barristers and the courts.
He realised he had gone too far and tried to persuade Dave and Gideon to U turn on his cuts.
They were having none of of it, so to save face , he resigned.
Stephen Crabb picked up the tab, realised thousands would die on his watch so he insisted the cuts were watere down.
To an extent they have been, only 80 per week are dying wholst being told they are fit for work rather than hundreds.
It emains unacceptable in a civilised society that a hard working man can have his PIP terminated because he failed to attend a back to work interview at the DWP a few hours before his family say their final farewells at his hospice.

The only way to do it is to actually accuse him in specific cases, and even then, it would have to be proved that he caused their death. Testing people who are on benefits isn't wrong in itself because fraudulent claims have to be weeded out, and it has to be established if someone is permanently unable to work or not.
