May says goodbye to Thatcherism, turns Tories sharp left Empty May says goodbye to Thatcherism, turns Tories sharp left

Post by Ben Reilly Thu Oct 06, 2016 5:08 am

For the last 40 years, Britain’s Conservative Party has essentially been the party of Margaret Thatcher: free-wheeling, free-market, globalist. Not any more.

Theresa May, the second woman to be both Tory leader and Prime Minister of the U.K., signaled the clearest possible break with the Iron Lady’s legacy Wednesday, turning the party sharply to the Left in an effort to occupy and redefine a new center ground in the country’s politics amid the uncertainties of the post-Brexit era.

“There is more to life than individualism and self-interest,” May told the Conservative Party’s annual conference, appearing to assign a much bigger role for government than Thatcher had ever allowed. The words could hardly have refuted Thatcher’s dictum that “there is no such thing as Society” more clearly. May said she stood for a conservatism “that understands the good that government can do…We succeed or fail together.”

May took a page from her German counterpart, Angela Merkel, in stealing shamelessly from the playbook of rival parties: She bashed unscrupulous businessmen, tax dodgers, and their facilitators in the legal and accountancy professions (all traditional Tory voters). She promised to stand up for the working class against the rich and powerful, singling out familiar pantomime villains in retailing and regulated utilities. All that would have gone down well at any Labour Party conference. Equally, she talked about lifting working-class white youths out of poverty and unemployability, and tighter control of immigration in a nod to the right-wing U.K. Independence Party.

May I just add that it's slightly amazing to me that helping poor whites find jobs and tighter immigration control are "far-right" policies in the UK? In the U.S. those would be good centrist policies that most would agree upon.

In my late parents house, Thatcher was the worst of swear words, right up there alongside f**k and c**t.
When she snuffed, there were many celebrations  in the area.
The Tory equivalent to  Hitler. Both shrieked, both hated working class and both were hell bent on pulverizing factories.

May's speech and spin was utter bollocks. She spent 6 years as Home Secretary advocating and hailing the austerity cuts to the police, Customs and Immigration staff, the NHS snd the armed forces, with 6 year pay freezes alongside massive staff cuts.
Now she wants people to forget that stuff and she wants to be everybody's  bestest freind.
Lying is inbred into Tory psychology and philosophy.

Like all fascists, Hitler was against trade unions and socialists. Similarly, Michael Gove vilified primary school teachers and dinner ladies, many of whom went on strike for the first time in their lives on 30 November last year, as “militants itching for a fight”. Gove has plans for military cadets in every school (Cameron Youth?) and a return to children sitting in rows reciting lists of kings and queens in history lessons, rather than learning to think. Hitler also realised how important history was to indoctrination when he ordered the mass burning of books. Tories close libraries.

Hitler made sure that he controlled the media. The Tories have cowed the BBC by threats of fragmentation and sharing the licence fee with others, such as Murdoch. The BBC, which was required to be impartial, has become just another mouthpiece for Tory propaganda. As soon as they came to power in 2010, the Tories instructed every minister to repeat over and over again the whopping lie that Labour, not Tory bankers, caused the global credit crisis. We have the repeated lie about everyone in the public sector getting “gold-plated pensions”, when the average is only £5,600 per annum. As Goebbels said: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." Cameron has proved over and over again that he’s a pathological liar.

Hitler divided and ruled the German people by scapegoating Jews and gypsies. The Tories are demonising those who receive benefits, one result of which is that disability hate crimes are increasing. Duncan Smith went on breakfast television on 27 May 2010 and made the chilling remark: "Work makes you free". That's an exact translation of the sign which used to hang over the entrances to concentration camps.

The Tories have plans to force 50,000 disabled youth to work for companies such as Sainsbury's and Tesco's unpaid. Cancer patients are being made to undergo work assessments while being treated with chemotherapy, and wounded soldiers are being sacked. (Osborne is willing to take money from the disabled and cancer patients, but not prepared to veto Hester's bonus from the largely state-owned RBS.)

The police are being trained to shoot people with rubber bullets and will be issued with water cannon, yet the Tories were so keen on helping Arab rebels in North Africa. Two unknown Scottish teenagers made a joke on 'Facebook' about organising riots, and they both received four years in jail. A prominent Tory TV presenter (and personal friend of Cameron) made a tasteless joke about murdering trade unionists on prime time television; nothing was done about it and the BBC continue to pay him £1 million a year of our money.

We don't have any concentration camps in the UK, but the principles are the same - propaganda, indoctrination, and divide and rule by demonising a section of the population. While Hitler gassed Jews, the Tories clearly don't care if benefit claimants starve to death. Even payments from the Social Fund, for those in the most desperate need, will no longer be available from job centres but will be at the 'discretion' of local councils, who will not have to ring-fence the money. All the ingredients of fascism are there, but it's just being handed out to us in a more genteel form than Hitler used - in velvet gloves.

If anyone thinks she has turned the party left, they haven't been listening.

James O'Brien Compares Amber Rudd's Speech To Hitler's Words

This startling observation stopped James O'Brien in his tracks - the eerie similarities between Amber Rudd's plan to list foreign workers and a passage in Mein Kampf
.
James read a portion of the book, written by Adolf Hitler, saying it was actually a part of the Home Secretary's speech.
Speaking on his LBC show, he said: "I want to read you something from Amber Rudd's speech yesterday. 'For the state must draw a sharp line of distinction between those who, as members of the nation, are the foundation and support of its existence and greatness, and those who are domiciled in the state, simply as earners of their livelihood there.'

"Very important that firms declare how much of their workforce is foreign because they're just domiciled in this state simply as earners of their livelihood there. They're not members of the nation, they're not members of the foundation and the support of the nation's existence and greatness.

You have to have a sharp line of distinction between those who are members of the nation and those who are just domiciled here as earners of their livelihoods.

"No, that wasn't from Amber Rudd's speech yesterday, I'm really sorry, that's from Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler.

"A sharp line of distinction between those who as members of the nation are the foundation and support of its existence and those who are domiciled in the state simply as earners of their livelihood here. Do you recognise that need for a sharp distinction? Do you feel it? Do you applaud that today?

"Do you cheer it because you've heard some meaningless anecdote about plasterer whose wages have gone up by roughly the same percentage over the last ten or fifteen years that almost everybody else in the British workforce has? You see the need for that sharp line of distinction? Are you going to swallow that today?

"A sharp line of distinction between those who are the foundation and support of the nation's existence and greatness. And those, like almost everybody I've encountered so far today, who were just domiciled in the states simply as earners of their livelihood here. What do you think will come next?

"If you're going to have a sharp line of distinction between people born here and people who just work here, you're enacting chapter two of Mein Kempf. Strange times."

I think she is trying to distance herself from Thatcherism.
She wants to be much more than just an offshoot of the shamelessly divisive Thatcherism movement.

She wants to carve a niche for herself in history.
I prefer Theresa's dulcet tones to Thatcher's strident decibels.

why on earth would I be annoyed or disappointed, we have ANOTHER woman leader with a vision. If she can deliver on brexit she may well go down as the first great PM in the 21st century. Unlike sycophants like yourself or other lefties those in the tory party do not have to blindly agree with every facet of policy, she appears to be a PM who is going to get things done. apparently you think tax dodgers shouldn't be hunted down. You think big business should be allowed to get its own way.
Unlike the labour party, who have decide to live in the past, the tories are going from strength to strength by looking forward. socialism is a failed ideology being pursued by failed parties.

the british public trust may, they dont trust labour

On whether you trust the the Labour Party:
Trust: 24%
Do not trust: 66%
(via YouGov / 29 - 30 Sep)

even the dont knows beat #jihadijez in a recent poll of who would be best PM.
