If those old crimes point to systemic dysfunction, correcting them could benefit a lot of people today and in the future, though.

This fucks me off so much!
Can anyone imagine what it is like to have a child simply vanish from your life? To never know where someone is?
In my opnion, not enough is spent on finding people. There are so many missing people - who is going to be their voice?

What a crock of shit.
So children go missing and your answer to it is, "Oh well if they're not found soon then let's presume they're either dead or happy, either way it's a waste of time and money to keep looking"?

Psychic detectives Eds.
I think it's almost a crime in itself to spend so much money chasing after shadows for years.
Even if still alive now he and others like him would have a life of their own now and deserve peace and quiet.
DON'T be so pathetically obtuse, blackie, just for the sake of being argumentative...
What about the guilty parties in so many of those unsolved crimes -- are you really so happily ready to allow probable killers, rapists, kidnappers from those "cold cases" to continue roaming the streets, maybe even living somewhere close to you; escaping justice for all this time ?
And what about "providing closure" to the family and friends of deceased or missing persons..
AS FOR your claim that you would rather see those £millions£ spent on welfare for returned servicemen -- are you really so ignorant of the ways of guvm'nt spending, that you still don't realise that monies redirected from one area won't go to your pet projects, but would only end up back in the "general revenue" portion of the gov't budget ?
IF governents genuinely wanted more to spend on welfare, health and education, then all they need do is close a few of the corporate taxation loopholes..
