Inflation Bang On The 2% Target
14th January 2014
Great news, we can all get along now.
A fall in food prices helped inflation fall back to the Bank of England's target rate of 2% for the first time in over four years in December.
The CPI measure eased by 0.1% month-on-month, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), with lower meat and fruit costs the biggest contributor.
The ONS said that the collection of the data happened too early in the month to capture reported discounting by retailers in the days before Christmas.

Re: Inflation Bang On The 2% Target
Inflation is still out striping wages which means people are still getting poorer so it isn't helping people to cope with the cost of living crisis. First time on target since Osborne got his hands on the tiller over three years ago. Three years wasted from the time Osborne threw away the growth he inherited and now some people want to give him a pat on the back for the disaster he has brought upon us with the additional billions he has had to borrow over and above what was forecast. in his austerity plan.
Some people are easily fooled by his measures which are designed to get them over the line in 2015 by which time we will be in a position to compete on equal terms with India.
Get them out.
