Users of the internet inside the Vatican have used illegal torrent sites to download illegal films, music, and porn titles with funny names, a site focussing on file sharing has reported.
According to TorrentFreak, titles downloaded using torrent sites from within the Vatican included the film ‘Billy Elliot’, music by German heavy metal band ‘Scorpions’, television series ‘Camp’.
Other more and adult content downloaded from within the Vatican included porn titles called FlexyTeens.com’s ‘Naked Gymnast’, and ‘Lesbian Hair Salon’.
Those titles were joined with Will Smith film ‘After Earth’, video game ‘Football Manager’, and a pilot episiode of ‘Save Me’, another TV series about a girl who thinks she is God.
TorrentFreak, according to its website, is “a publication dedicated to bringing the latest news about copyright, privacy, and everything related to filesharing. We are not a news aggregator, but focus on unique and fresh stories. TorrentFreak is where news and filesharing collide.”
Ernesto Van der Sar, the founder and director of the site, said that because of a small number of downloads, and that the Vatican has such a small population, it is difficult to gauge whether there is a large, or small number of illegal downloads proportionately.
“Keep in mind that with numbers this small, what we are seeing could be the work of as few as three or four individuals,” he said.
“One thing that stands out, though, is the lack of downloads of recent content. Usually, you see a lot of downloads of the latest blockbusters or new television series. But there is almost none of that at the Vatican.”
The report, appearing in the Washington Post notes that as well as the Vatican, data gathered by TorrentFreak indicated that illegal downloads could have been made from within US Congress.
The Vatican was embarrassed last year after it emerged that it had bought a Rome apartment block which contained the biggest gay sauna in Europe.
