Amusing how you place so much weight & value upon a opinion piece written by Steven Glover; who is putting his OWN spin on what he ASSUMES the POTUS is going to say and the reasons that America has been asked to come to England.  Lordy - Lordy, Stormee; do you assume that this is just a 'fly-by, drop in and say HOWDY'?  Not hardly, and as the situation within the EU has far out reaching affects to the global market...the decision to stay or leave will impact a great many countries.


Why is America, which so zealously defends her own sovereignty and independence, so blind to Britain's predicament? Why does she urge us to accept shared arrangements which her own history of rugged self-determination would lead her to reject?
The answer is that the United States is being selfish, and thinking only of what is best for her. This is hardly surprising. It's what countries do. Though America is our closest and most reliable ally, there have been several occasions in the past half-century or so when she has overridden or ignored British interests.

This editorial drivel has some amusing opinions and obscure written points {not quite how history tells it} but he's managed to catch your eye and obviously you have agreed with his POV regardless of the amusing errors in his thought process!  Rolling Eyes

Would the US ever agree to free movement to everyone in the rest of south America and to giving away control of its laws and rules and regulations to a group of unelected south American 'officials' based in somewhere like Peru... and to pay tens of billion dollars a year for it...?


I think not!!!


And wouldn't the American people all laugh at others who tried to tell them it was a good Idea???

Being pedantic, he's not asking us to give up anying, if you take the view that we would have sovereignty if we left Europe, he's asking us not to take it.

He has a view because a lot of our American trade is because we are part of EU.

Either independence and sovereignty and democracy is important... or it isn't...!?


USA celebrate theirs on July 4th every year...


And would never be giving it away!!!


We have had ours stolen from us over 40 years...!


Why won't he support us in getting it back!!!???

North America and South America are two separate continents..

Free passage between north and south would be like free passage between Europe and Africa, or Europe and Russia.

No... usa is only a part of North America... and directly joined to the rest of America by land... where uk is a separate land entirely...


And the eu is actively trying to incorporate other non European continent nations to join up...
