Belgian minister Claims many Muslims ‘danced’ after attacks

Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon said Saturday that a “significant” part of the Muslim population celebrated attacks, blaming the country’s policies for failing to integrate migrants into society. He did not explicitly refer to last month’s jihadist attacks on Brussels’ airport and metro system that killed 32 people. A significant section of the Muslim community danced when attacks took place,” Jambon said in an interview with the Flemish-language De Standaard newspaper.

The Belgian minister also accused Muslim residents of Brussels’ largely immigrant Molenbeek neighborhood of attacking police during an operation last month to arrest a suspect in connection with the deadly attacks in Paris last November. “They threw stones and bottles at police and press during the arrest of Salah Abdeslam. This is the real problem. Terrorists we can pick up, remove from society. But they are just a boil. Underneath is a cancer that is much more difficult to treat. We can do it, but it won’t be overnight,” he said.

Jambon, whose New Flemish Alliance party has been a key part of Belgium’s ruling center-right coalition since 2014, previously offered to resign in the wake of the Brussels attacks.

In Saturday’s interview he said that the danger linked to the radicalization of youth from third and fourth generation families is “too deeply rooted” in some areas because Belgium “have for many years ignored the warning signs”.

Following the November 13 attacks in neighboring France, Jambon sparked controversy when he promised to “clean Molenbeek” when it emerged that several of the attackers had links to the impoverished district of the Belgian capital.

As an American, I have to accept the fact that my countries global humanitarian image took serious hit with some of our back peddling methods we've done... especially in Iraq {POTUS#41} ...
We've lost our great SHINY BADGE/facade and that's as it should be...we are no better than the rest of the world --- we have our very own heinous history of ugly acts against other races...we can't expect the world to share our moments of great sorrow & pain!
But something gets over looked during and after the heinous 9-11 event...there were something like 18 other nationalities represented among those that were killed and maimed on that day...IT WAS CALLED THE 'WORLD TRADE CENTER' for a reason
SMH...this the 21st century and in some ways we finally see acceptance and equality for ALL people...and yet deeper wedges being driven between other people

When I hear of Jihadists being reduced to 'grease spots' on the ground, I don't caper around my living room in glee.  

I would assume that your non-gleeful reaction would have a lot to do with how you were raised...I shudder to  recall the ugly/racisist words that  'I' repeated as a young foolish human, just because of the vile racisist words that my father used daily!  It was ingrained in my vocabulary at a very early age...so is the rhetoric of 'hating other cultures that are different from ours'...not so unique ...it's the one thing all nations excel at...feeding the hate & anger!

Why is it the left when faced with such evidence, do everything but condemn these Muslims celebrating.
This is done by deflecting going off things the West has done and have been condemned by those same lefties.
There is a vast difference between how western nations conduct themselves within conflicts. Where they look to safeguard the lives of civilians.
Mistakes of course will happen, but they have not set out to kill any civilians. You could not have anything more far removed from this with the intentions of Islamic extremism and terrorism. Where death and seeking death through Martyrdom is valued higher that human life itself. They ignore civilians right to a human life. Where they look to commit as much death and destruction as possible.

How you can even compare both, fail to condemn these Muslims, who are Belgium Muslims, celebrating the murder of Belgium citizens is just blatantly absurd.

Its not difficulty, you condemn them, not offer up poor excuses for them, which they lap up, making them a major part of their narrative.

His statement is without context.
All he said was that he was doing a waltz at the time, he never stated why he was.
People dancing the Waltz would not generally on its own, give off a view that they were celebrating anything.
I suspect he is playing some silly game off this, which would be in poor taste

His comment could be without context, perhaps he was waltzing at the time...he was given the chance to explain.
He did not, it has been left for people to make their own minds up.

I think Zack was just being sarcastic... I don't think he really danced... and he definitely didn't do a 'waltz'... as that would have caused too many arguments with his boyfriend about who would be taking the 'lead'...!!!

I don't know him the way others do, I liked to read his posts because as I said, not many Muslims seem to post on forums, it's always nice to read different points of view re religion, cultures etc.

His remark, and the following one when Eddie questioned him, was odd imo, especially in regard to the actual thread.
He also ignored the following comments asking him to explain.

Why go out of your way to cause upset? and if it was just a sarky comment why not explain it?

But it wasn't when it happened was it, and it was sarcasm because of the thread.   Zack probably gets completely pissed off with all the anti Muslim threads, I know I do, Sexy Mamma who is my friend IRL and Muslim never comes on here anymore because of it. 

Frankly there are days I have a look at the forum, read the thread titles and ask myself if I really want to post with all the crap there is.

Well like I said, he only said he was waltzing which is far removed from celebrating.
However to say it based off others dancing and celebrating is still in very poor taste in light of the fact Muslims did celebrate the murder of civilians by terrorism, and these were their own citizens
