Right now, government leaflets telling us why we should stay in the EU are dropping through the letterbox in homes across the UK. Politicians on both sides are using the leaflet to score points off each other. [1] But between the media frenzy and political spin, it’s hard for ordinary people to know which bits of the leaflet are true.

That’s where we come in. Thousands of 38 Degrees members chipped in for independent fact-checkers to cut through the spin about this referendum. [2] A team of experts has investigated the government leaflet line by line, and they’ve separated the facts from the fiction.

The leaflet says: “The UK is not part of the EU’s border-free zone - we control our own borders which gives us the right to check everyone, including EU nationals, arriving from continental Europe”

The UK isn’t part of the EU’s border free zone—the Schengen area—and it retains control over its borders.
This means it can check passports at its borders and refuse entry to people without any valid identity documents, including EU nationals. This isn’t the same as saying the UK can refuse anyone from other EU countries, if they do have valid documents. The UK also cannot directly control levels of immigration from other EU countries.

We have open borders to 500 million eu people!!!

Open for them to come and do what they like for as long as they want!!!

Most will be able to enter uk with their ID card!

The part on Norway and Switzerland is perhaps most interesting, since it confirms that even while not part of the EU they still get the costs as if they were. If we leave, we will ultimately just have to pay to trade, accept many EU laws and have no say whatsoever in how the EU is run- just like Norway.

No we don't have to be like Norway at all!!!





The pro eu liars are telling us this because that is how they want business as usual even if we vote to leave!!!


They will arrange a stitch up deal where nothing really changes!!


Plenty of countries trade without having to give away any of their sovereignty or open up borders to free movement!!!


The eu will carry on selling us there cars and wine etc!!!

From the different people I've spoken to, it really seems to come down to age in how people will vote!

50 and over feel they've been "lied to" and those much older definitely think they've seen things get worse and that they didn't vote into the EU!
Those 30 and under seem to think we'd be better off in Europe.

The younger people have been force fed pro eu propaganda for years... and are too naive or stupid to know any better!!!

And sadly if the vote goes badly then the older generations will have a made a decision that affects our generation far more long term than it will affect theirs.

If the vote goes badly then we will still be in the corrupt dictatorship that is ruining European countries!!!
