Israeli forces raid refugee camp, injure 28
Yesterday, Israeli forces injured 28 Palestinians during a raid of al-Am'ari Refugee Camp, as Israeli raids in Area A increase.
Yesterday morning, dozens of soldiers and special operations units invaded al-Am’ari Refugee Camp in Ramallah.
Am’ari Camp is in Area A according to the Oslo Accords – that is, ostensibly, under full civil and military control of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Israeli soldiers closed all entrances to the camp and occupied the roofs of residents’ houses.
Clashes erupted between Israeli soldiers and residents and continued until 9AM on Monday.
Israeli soldiers and special operations units used live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets against protesters, injuring 28 Palestinians – six of them critically.
The Ramallah Hospital said one of the injured was in extremely critical condition from being shot in the head.
Israeli soldiers reportedly used Palestinians’ private property and passersby as human shields during the operation.
According to Israeli news sources, Israeli soldiers raided the camp in an attempt to arrest residents.
Sunday night, Israeli forces raided Dheisheh refugee camp to arrest Palestinians.
Dheisheh is also under full civil and military control of the PA (Area A), according to the Oslo Accords.
Dheisheh has been invaded more than ten times in the last two months. Many residents have been injured and arrested.
The raids of Ama’ri and Dheisheh refugee camps reflect Israeli forces' recently reinvigorated tendency to conduct raids in Area A with impunity.
