British Gas chiefs were wined and dined at a luxury £40,000 get together as fatcats plotted how to make even more money from hard-pressed customers.
Centrica, which runs the firm, organised the bash at a swish hotel to discuss how to boost its own profits, which were £2.7billion this year.
But as the 40 bigwigs downed gourmet meals and wine at the Aviator, in Farnborough, Hants, British Gas customers faced 9% hikes .
Dot Gibson, of the National Pensioners Convention, said: “It highlights the two tier system where executives live like this while customers struggle to keep warm.”
Centrica managers, including chief Sam Laidlaw, British Gas head Chris Weston and bosses flown in from the US, spent two nights in rooms starting at £200.
The hotel, 20 miles from the firm’s HQ, boasts Dom Perignon champagne at £265, Chateaubriand and pheasant on the menu.
The total cost of the event in November, including flights, is estimated to be £40,000.
Centrica would not confirm the bill but a spokesman said: “We are a big international company, it would be unusual if senior management didn’t get together.”

OMFG!
Watch that Jeff Randal thing on Sky News...The next time that it's on!
They have all of the corporate people sitting around a dinner table, being served by waiters, with the best possible foods during the discussions, all very relaxed and all!
I will have to post one of those!
...Honestly..They had the Tesco boss there along with three other fatcats...They were just talking about their profit margins...I think that Randall made one point about the poor..It was completely ignored!
This should be on prime time and not in the early hours of the morning!

Re: British Gas fatcats treated to luxury £40,000 dinner as they plot to squeeze more from hard up customers
This reminds me when all the U.S. banking CEOs were flying in to Washington D.C. for their billions of dollars in bailouts, and had to be advised that it wouldn't look good to arrive in their private jets ...
