Re: mattress
I've been thinking of getting one that's adjustable, that lifts one up to a reading position. Obviously I read a lot, and I fancy reading before sleeping at night.
I had one when I was in the hospital two years ago, and it was great.

Re: mattress
I have a memory foam mattress topper, which was of course a lot cheaper than a whole mattress. I find it very good indeed.
I've also tried those memory foam shoe insoles - with less success.

Good question...needs a lot of room.
Gd story: one day at the Long's Drug Store in my neighborhood, a new checker is hired and she's beautiful. On my first visit I catch a look. So, I'ze goes down the the condom display and find the package that says, 'Giant, King-Sized, Extra-Grand'. I take it up to the check-out counter and buyz it. I had a date next night.

Yes i have one with the memory foam insides, not a solid memory foam one.
it is good even support. if you need a firm mattress they seem better than the spring ones
I've had it a few years now and it is still good.
cant say for a softer ones, Mine was literally the firmest on market.

Re: mattress
They say that foam is more resistant to dust mites and is therefore better if you have allergies. Dunno if that's actually true.

Re: mattress
I've got a very good mattress (you have to pay money for a good one) and a very thick memory topper - the thinner ones are ok, but the thicker the better.

Re: mattress
There are good ones and bad ones -- I had a bad one once that felt really comfortable to lay down upon at first, but in the morning my butt was against the platform.
Re: mattress
Mattresses used to be much better. They had more spring and were softer. I don't think you can get soft mattresses these days, and the medium ones are like lying on a bed of rock IMO.
I also like foam pillows - not necessarily memory foam which I don't think would work well as a pillow, but bouncy foam ones.

Re: mattress
We just came back from holiday and the bed was huge....it was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in.
It swallowed me up every night and I slept like a log (unusual for me)
I wish now I had stripped it and got the name of the mattress.

No they weren't. In fact the next Sunday I took the box of condoms to church, where they were having a big Balloon Release for Peace event. They had a big gas cylinder, and I surreptitiously filled the condoms with helium and released them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy goat.
The balloons were supposed to have little messages tied to them, and I just printed up some cards and tied them to the condoms. They said things like: You can stay, but your clothes must go... and Are you trouble? I like getting into trouble... and my favorite, Good girls go to heaven; bad girls just bring heaven to you...

MIL paid a fortune for a memory mattress but hated it because it was so hot. I guess it depends if you're prone to overheating in bed Nicko
I was going to say hot in bed but that could be misconstrued..............

You could try a memory foam topper which would be a lot cheaper. If you don't like it, you haven't lost as much as if you'd paid for a whole mattress.

The one I have isn't completely flat on top - I don't know if that makes a difference. It's sort of dimpled.
I must say I do like it - it's much better than just the mattress.
