Kindhearted Repairman Fixes Military Wife’s Furnace Then Gives Amazing Bill

A woman with two small kids was shocked when the repairman handed her his bill for fixing her furnace — he charged her only a dollar.
Bridget Stevens came home with her two sons to a very cold house in Pennsylvania.

Fidgeting with the furnace controls got no response and, after messaging her husband deployed with the military, realized she’d have to call a repairman.

It was late at night, but Paul Betlyn, the owner of Betlyn Heating and Cooling, not only took her call, but came out right away.

While working on the furnace, Betlyn found out Stevens’ husband was serving overseas, so when he handed her bill it was marked with a “deployment discount” — just one dollar for all his work.

“When I tried to give him any money at all,he said that the one dollar was a joke, and to thank my husband for his service,” Stevens wrote on her Facebook page.

Most black taxis, my other half included, don't charge military men or people travelling to hospitals with sick children.

They do in Coventry, most luvlee pakistani drivuz, they do not like doing wheelchair people either.

I remember the black cabz of Coventry in my youth and knew the 3 biggest firm ownuz of that era.
The cabz were alwayz clean, not nowadayz with the idle rabble driving them.

Because in London black taxis are different to any other private hire vehicle

yeah but just as 'london taxi' or funny old looking cabs they have in England

even reading the link i cant see how they are much different other than driver trainign and the 'tradition' shape look stuff.

They're just iconic and you only get it if you live or work in and around London I guess.

When you're standing there in the rain trying to hail a taxi, it's a lovely sight when a black cab comes along with its for-hire light on. It's like that feeling when you've broken down in your car and you see the AA man approaching. sunny

Whenever we go to London it is by train, The Chiltern Line, very pleasant.
When we get there we use black cab taxis to go from place to place, briliant, drivers are so helpful, clean, unlike this area.

London is the easiest town to get around I've ever seen. Fly into Heathrow...walk downstairs (or escalator) to the Piccadilly line...get off at Earl's Court and walk or cab to Harrington Gardens, where my hotel is situated. With BART now going to SFO, it's like communing all the way.

Doing "The knowledge" which is what black taxi drivers have to study for - knowing every landmark and the majority of street names and the best route on the day (traffic can change a route) - is the equivalent of doing two degrees.

Doing the knowledge in London is the bees kneez but in Coventrystan you have mostly those luvlee pakistani drivers who know jack sh** and ask you where the destination is.
