Naked Skydive!

A bisexual skydiver has completed a jump wearing nothing but a parachute, and raised over £2,000 for terminally ill children.
Marking his 100th jump, Dan Cope successfully made the naked dive on 30 November from 10,000 ft, experiencing temperatures as low as -10°C.
He raised £2,424.10 for the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, more than quadrupling his original target of £500. Donations were gratefully received from the UK and Europe, as well as the US and Canada and Australia.



Dan said: “We were blessed with a lovely day, and I can actually say I think it was the best day of my life, knowing that a fantastic charity is going to benefit so much. The dive itself felt epic, words can’t explain the feeling! When I pulled my canopy open I was fortunate that the straps didn’t cause any permanent damage and I’m glad I managed to successfully land on my feet, saving me the embarrassment of grass stains on my bum!”
He continued to thank all of those who donated, noting one anonymous benefactor who donated £357, and commended the work of the hospice.

Dan has also been inducted into SANS (The Society for the Advancement of Naked Skydivers). Jeff Dawson of SANS said: “The Society for the Advancement of Naked Skydiving is proud to welcome Daniel Cope as its newest member. In addition to the extraordinary accomplishment of making a naked skydive, Daniel did it to aid a most worthwhile charity. Our hats (and most other things) are off to him.”
Hannah Ward-Salt, Fundraiser for The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, said: “Dan’s really brave and the naked skydive is something that has really caught people’s imagination. It’s certainly a first for us here at the Hospice, where the money Dan raises will make a tremendous difference to the lives of local children and their families.”




The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice provides a range of specialist care and support services for children with a shortened life expectancy and their families. They provide this care and support from a purpose-built house in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. The money raised will be used to build a playground for the children of the Hospice. This will be specially adapted for their needs, allowing them to play, have fun in the simplest of ways, things many of us take for granted.
Dan said he was inundated with donations after PinkNews reported on his challenge last month.



Donations will be accepted well into the New Year, and Dan said: “I hope that donations continue to come in and others will be inspired to try something they thought they’d never dreamed of doing as way of supporting worthwhile causes”

It's a wonder his balls didn't freeze! Glad he raised so much money for the children though.

Glad he raised some money, it of a candidate for a Darwin though!

 

NOTE that he is (recorded) naked skydiver #1158...

Meaning that 1157 went before him ~ and survived to tell the tale..

I have previously seen news items of "mass nude skydives" before in Oz, the USA and over Europe, where dozens were jumping together ! DON'T know how many might have raised money for charities at the same time, though..
