old songs
This is for Eddie, do you ever listen to old songs from the 60'? I stated some time ago I like songs to have a "story" and a nice melody. I found one yesterday that fits the bill completely. Marty Robbins, El- Paso, I think
great,have you heard it?
Do you or others on here have a favourite song from the 60'?

The 60's was a great decade for music.
This one just snuck in at the very end.

Re: old songs
One of my favourite Beatles songs. What was so lovely about that time was you still had styles from the 50s mixing with the new wave of the Beatles, Stones etc.

As the saying goes, "they don't make 'em like that any more".

Re: old songs
A lot of the stuff I like is from the '60s - a lot of northern soul and Motown is from that decade.

I was going to put Band of Gold in here, but it just missed the 60's. That's one of the best tracks ever IMO, and it has that marvelous electric sitar.

Oh alright then. It was 1970, so it nearly qualifies. I just love that electric sitar.

Her, Lulu, and amazingly Marrianne Faithful all still look great. The other main female stars of the decade have sadly not survived.
Cilla recently died and my favourite Dusty sadly passed a few years ago.
The 60's was a great time for young female singers though.

There were several songs about being puppets or dolls in that era - Puppet on a String, Jack in the Box, and the one I just posted - Come back and Shake me. It was all a bit sexist really.

This is one of my absolute favourites, the girl was Dusty's girlfriend although she would not admit it, being gay frightened her.

Madeline Bell. Thank goodness times have changed and people can be more who they are . Dusty had a very troubled life didn't she.
I saw her live a few times and she was absolutely brilliant.

I think being gay absolutely ruined her life. As you say, so much better people can be what they are now.

She did. She was older than the other girls by 10 or 15 years, but she always looked the same age.
She is still performing too.

Seeing all the Photo's and listening to the song makes me wish it was the 60' again, although for me it was a bit violent. Still, it's good to know that a lot here think like me. If ben's looking, have you
ever been to El-Paso?

This was one of the best songs from the 60s and the best Beatles number ever. A real classic with a little bridge in the middle by George Martin
