This Syrian refugee has been handing out free food to the homeless in Berlin

A Syrian refugee has been photographed on the streets of Berlin preparing a hot meal for local homeless people in the city.

Alex Assali moved to Germany last year after initially fleeing his home city of Damascus in 2007 when he criticised the regime of Bashar al-Assad online. He now cooks rice and stew as part of a church project he set up in order to give something back to the country that offered him shelter.

Speaking to i100.co.uk, Assali explained that around 100 homeless people gather at the Alexanderplatz station where he cooks each Saturday.

Obviously because it's viewed (pretty much worldwide) as being less shameful to have homeless people in your country than to refuse refugees. But you or I would take the housing if it were offered; it's not his fault.

the fault lies in the system
as to the view you mention now thats a different matter, since that can be laid at the door of people...
and policies, and those that firstly promulgate such ideas and them most shamefully of all at the feet of those who support it.

Of course, your ideology places the priority on the natives of a particular artificially roped-off landmass over people born outside it. I don't see one (homelessness) as being more or less of a problem than the other (a refugee crisis).
