Celebrating "the first anniversary" of the Har Nof synagogue massacre, the independent Palestinian news agency Wattan dedicated a full article to praising the two terrorists who with guns and butcher's knives slaughtered 5 Israeli worshippers, and killed a policeman last year. The article referred to the horrific killings as "the heroic operation" and an "epos written by the heroes."

"Today is the first anniversary of the Martyrdom of... the heroes Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal, who carried out the heroic Dir Yassin operation (i.e., Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem), which led to the death of 6 settlers... Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal exemplified the meaning of heroism for the homeland... They set out to protect it from the defilement of the thieving occupation, and died as Martyrs on the path of honor. Today is the first anniversary of the epos written by the heroes."

This praise for murder by Wattan completely contradicts the statement in Wattan's LinkedIn profile that "Wattan advocates for democracy, non-violence, peace and social justice."

The report also praised another terrorist and family member of the synagogue killers, Alaa Abu Jamal, who last month deliberately drove his car into people standing at a bus stop in Jerusalem. After hitting three people, he got out of his car and started stabbing people. He killed one and injured three before he was shot and killed by a security guard. The news agency stated that "the Abu Jamal family again did not refrain from being an authentic part of the heroic honor," because Abu Jamal "ran [Israelis] over with a car, stabbed, took revenge, and upheld the promise, which the young people of the intifada undertake every day, to continue in the path of the Martyrs until liberation."

Last year, following the murders in the synagogue, Palestinian Media Watch exposed that PA Chairman Abbas' advisor posted graphic images from the murder scene and called the attack "a heroic operation." The day after the murders, Sultan Abu Al-Einein also posted a tribute to the murderers and their weapons: "Blessed be your quality weapons, the wheels of your cars, your axes and kitchen knives."

The following is a longer excerpt of the praise for the terrorist murderers by the news agency Wattan:

Headline: "6 settlers were killed in it - a year since the fast-responding heroes' operation in Dir Yassin"
"Today is the first anniversary of the Martyrdom of the sons of the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood and occupied Jerusalem, the mother of beginnings and ends, the heroes Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal, who carried out the heroic Dir Yassin operation (i.e., terror attack at Har Nof synagogue in Jerusalem, 6 killed), which led to the death of 6 settlers. Three of them had American citizenship, and one had British citizenship. The fifth one killed was an occupation policeman who died of his injuries after the operation, and before the end of this past October, the extreme Rabbi Yechiel Rothman [also] died of his injuries.
Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal exemplified the meaning of heroism for the homeland... They set out to protect it from the defilement of the thieving occupation, and died as Martyrs on the path of honor.
Today is the first anniversary of the epos written by the heroes
, sons of the Abu Jamal family, on the ground of occupied Dir Yassin, and with this anniversary there is much wonder - is what the occupied land is experiencing in this period a passing uprising or a third intifada?
With the intensification of the Israeli occupation's attacks against the occupied city, the Abu Jamal family again did not refrain from being an authentic part of the heroic honor, and its son Alaa Abu Jamal ran [Israelis] over with a car, stabbed, took revenge, and upheld the promise, which the young people of the intifada undertake every day, to continue in the path of the Martyrs until liberation.
Nadia Abu Jamal, Martyr Ghassan's wife, said in her answer regarding the first moments after she received the news of her husband's death as a Martyr: 'The news shocked and surprised me. Afterward, these feelings began to be mixed with pride over the scope and quality of the operation he carried out. Of course I did not expect this, and I am still hurting over his parting.'
Muawiyah Abu Jamal, Ghassan's brother, said: ...'all of the steps carried out by the occupation forces were harsh, but the harshest was the blowing up of our house that took place on the 6th of this past October, and which was meant to harm our resolve.' He clarified that the fact that the occupation forces blew up the house of Martyr Ghassan caused direct damage to the homes of his 4 brothers, out of clear, methodical policy to collectively punish the family...
Likewise, he noted that the Jerusalem district announced in the past, in a news item published in the media, that it would stand by the Martyrs' families, but that until now it had not given any services or aid to the families who were harmed!
I called Martyr Uday Abu Jamal's mother, who answered us in a voice full of sorrow at the parting of her son: 'How I miss Uday.' She added chokingly: 'They sealed the house with cement, and drove us from it. Today we live in a rented house. All of our lives have changed since the operation, in which we take great pride.'"
