American Star reveals he has HIV

American actor Charlie Sheen has given an interview revealing he was diagnosed with the AIDS virus 4 years ago.
He claims to have slept with 1000's of women including porn stars, admits he has had unprotected sex since the diagnosis, but claims it's impossible he has infected anyone else.

Not sure how that one works.

I have just been watching the interview....he says he has HIV not AIDS.....so it seems some of the reports are wrong, as is the heading on the thread...is it possible to change it please?.

He is wrong to assume if he has had unprotected sex he could not have passed the virus on though...unless he is doing something I don't know about.

I read some of his more recent conquests are seeking medical advice.....I would not be surprised if law suits swiftly follow.
If he didn't reveal he had the virus that can be a jailable offence in some states in the USA I believe.

Morally it's unforgivable.

Charlie Sheen says that he did tell every one of his partners that he was HIV positive, so let's not assume anything. He said he's been blackmailed by some people who knew of his condition, and that he paid them. Now that he's told the whole world, he says he's releasing himself from his prison.

I think there are law suits being planned, but if none of his partners actually got HIV from him, what are they going to be compensated for, and how are they going to prove that he didn't tell them?

He would make a good spokesperson really. He probably got HIV from a woman, and I think that a lot of people assume that's quite difficult.

He says he told them, some say he didn't. One woman claims to have lived with him for 4 months before he told her.....many others (he says he has bedded hundreds of women since he was diagnosed) are now being checked out and are seeking advice.

If it ends up in court it will be decided then who is lying.

Even if none of the women have been infected it's still a jailable offence in some states to not divulge you are HIV.
Mental anguish can be rewarded in court........if I were him I would start saving.

Some of the women who are allegedly suing him don't want to be named because of the stigma of even being "exposed" to the virus. Some of the ones he told blackmailed him. He would have been better off not sleeping around, but then so would they.

Yes he has been blackmailed ...he has paid out 10 million in hush money....not all of it to ex hookers and the like, but to so called friends he trusted.

Acting the way he has is bound to cause him trouble....I have no sympathy for him, plenty for the genuine people he has dragged into this mess though.

Well the law states that in 35 American states a person can be sued for exactly that.

Yes I agree....though I do believe enormous mental anguish could have been caused to many of the people involved.
One dilemma... (IF it's true as they claim some women had sex with him unknowing he was infected) they could have gone on to marry. Now they need to be tested. They are now in the position of either telling their husbands they and probably he need testing....or they have to keep it secret....either way its something no married person would welcome.

His actions have caused emotional stress to God knows how many people.

HIV infection is rising all the time, and I bet that loads of people don't tell anyone they have it. I think it's a bit pointless to point the finger at one person or another. We don't know what anguish he went through himself, or maybe he really believed he wouldn't pass it on. Maybe these women are lying when they said they didn't know. We don't know. You seem to have judged him and convicted him already. People need to understand that HIV doesn't discriminate, and if they sleep with someone they should take precautions and not rely on the other person.

I just think it's a dangerous road to go down. Let's just say that someone went shopping when they had flu, and passed it on to an old person, who then died of it. Should that person who went out with flu be prosecuted for manslaughter? After all, they would know that they were infectious.

Let's face it, Charlie Sheen was in a right state for years. Who knows what's been going on his head all this time? These women who are complaining must have known what a mess he was in.

At least he's come out with it now, and he's speaking out against the "stigma". That's got to be a good thing, and it might help others to be more open about it. Probably not though after they've seen what he's been accused of.

At least he's come out with it now, and he's speaking out against the "stigma". That's got to be a good thing, and it might help others to be more open about it. Probably not though after they've seen what he's been accused of.

No arguing that he has been a right mess....that doesn't put him above the law though and condone the criminal way he has acted.
He has come out with it now because he knew it was being made public that he was the 'star' with HIV who had continuously bedded women(and men) knowing he had the virus.

I imagine has made worse the stima of having HIV and AIDS for many.

It does make those women pretty stupid though. They should be more careful.

Those who blackmailed him haven't done much for the stigma either have they? Neither will the women who sue him, whether they have it or not.
