Israeli army unit storms hospital and kills Palestinian
Commandos seeking to question wounded Palestinian gun down his cousin who tried to intervene.
An elite Israeli military force that operates undercover stormed the al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron and shot dead a 27-year-old Palestinian, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
Abdullah al-Shalaldeh was killed by five rounds fired early Thursday after 21 members of the elite unit - known as Mustaarabin - barged into the hospital room of his cousin, Azzam al-Shalaldeh, a ministry statement said.
The commandos wanted to question Azzam - who required surgery after earlier being shot by Israeli security forces - and his cousin tried to prevent them from doing so when the Israelis opened fire.
Following the killing of Abdullah, the Israeli force arrested Azzam who was recovering at the hospital.
Dr Jihad Shawar, director of al-Ahli Hospital, told Al Jazeera the Israeli unit entered the facility at about 3am local time.
One of the soldiers was reportedly disguised as a pregnant woman in labour.

The commandos went to Azzam al-Shalaldeh's room to arrest him, Dr Shawar said. When his cousin Abdullah came out of the bathroom, he was shot multiple times in the head and body.
Al Jazeera was unable to reach a spokesman from the Israeli police. Israel's internal security services confirmed the raid on the hospital, according to Agence-France Presse news agency.
CCTV footage posted on Twitter showed the Mustaarabin commandos entering the hospital moments before the shooting.

Security forces entered Al Ahli hospital in Hebron early on Thursday and arrested 20-year-old Azzam Shaldallah on suspicion of stabbing and seriously injuring an Israeli civilian on October 25.
A video emerged of the arrest operation showing the Israeli forces in plainclothes disguised as a family coming to the hospital with a woman in labor. In the video, the group of men can be seen pushing another operative in a wheelchair who pretended to be the woman giving birth.
Special forces from the Border Police, combined with the Shin Bet intelligence agency and the IDF entered the hospital to arrest Shaldallah, and came under attack from one his relatives. Security forces shot and killed the relative before leaving the hospital with the wanted terrorist, the Shin Bet said.
Shaldallah, whose family is made up of Hamas operatives, was shot by the civilian he stabbed on October 25, but was able to flee the area.
He is a resident of Sa'ir, near Hebron.
The Shin Bet said in a statement that security forces "will not allow safe refuge for terrorist operatives, whoever they are."
The director of the Hebron hospital, Jehad Shawar, told Palestine radio that 20-30 men had arrived at the clinic in two mini vans.
"They held the staff at gunpoint and stormed the room of Shaldallah," Shawar said.
His cousin, who was in the bathroom, was shot dead when he suddenly entered the room, Shawar said.
"They took Shaldallah and placed him in the wheelchair they brought the woman in and they exited the room preventing anyone from giving medical aid to the young man laid on the floor," the director told the radio station.
Shaldallah's brother Bilal, who was asleep in vigil alongside him, told Reuters he was tied to the bed by the Israeli forces.
"As soon they entered the room they tied me to the bed. (My cousin) was inside the bathroom and wanted to wash for prayer. As he was exiting the bathroom, one of the under cover men shouted at him to stop and they opened fire."
"He remained on the ground bleeding and they hit my brother on his head and took him away," he added.

So no debate and a poor deflection.
The man in the hospital was hamas and an attempted murderer which you again say nothing of.
No idea if his cousin was, though if innocent he sadly was the victim of circumstances, as someone coming out of a room can allow for the wrong reaction
As to the attempted murderer, they should have placed a bullet in his head instead.
One less terrorist in the world.

So in the same article it says that the cousin tried to prevent them, and then it says that he merely came out of the bathroom.
Which was it?
Of course I will be looking into this more thoroughly as it's another dramatic thread title.

I watched the video, but of course it doesn't cover the actual shooting.

Re: Israeli army unit storms hospital and kills Palestinian
Well again there are a couple of possibilities here rags to me. They certainly did not come to kill anyone, as if they did they would have assassinated the Hamas terrorist they came to arrest. They did arrest him. So either the man came out suddennly and was shot in error, the soldiers mistaking they were about to be attacked, or more to the point trigger happy. Or he did try to attack them.

When you here the sound of the jackboots it's already too late. That's the boots the IDF wear these days in the occupied West Bank.

I'm not sure about this one. It seems a little OTT. Could they not have put someone on guard until the man was discharged and then questioned him? Did they need to question him straightaway because they thought there was some terrorist plot afoot that they needed to scupper?

Re: Israeli army unit storms hospital and kills Palestinian
To be honest rags there is little details and if the man killed was a hamas terrorist, then I have zero sympathy. I also think lets also look at the fact this man in hospital was wanted for attemted murder. I know its of little comfort to the man killed, but would he be dead, if not for the fact his cousin tried to murder an israel and was wounded in the process? If h e had handed himself in, his cousin would be alive today. he thus should take some responsibility for the events that have occured.

It just seemed a bit OTT for so many of them to come in with guns Didge. The wounded man was in a bed, although they might not have known that when they came in of course. I think they should have put two men on guard outside his room and waited to question him really. As I said though, perhaps something happened which made it more urgent.

The man had been in hospital quite a while hadn't he? Did they know where he was all that time? I think that's important. Why suddenly go in like that after so long?
