Largest increase in immigration is normally bad news,but at lest it allowed IDS to conceal the fact that 2000 people died having been told by that arseholes DWP Department that they fit for work.
If there is a God,he would strike IDS down with great vengeance and furious anger.

The 2600 are those that died AT THE SAME TIME THEY WERE INFORMED THEY WERE FIT FOR WORK.

The numbers in the Huff were those that died within 6 weeks of being told.

Subjective to say the least.
Was being told the cause?
Are they even connected?
Again to make such an assertion would require how they all sadly passed away where there was irrefutable evidence this led to their deaths.
Its very easy to make an association, but without their causes of death, most could be very much circumstantial.

It's too confusing. Both articles are referring to deaths between December 2011 and February 2014, but the figures are different.

Oh right. In the Mirror article, the 1,360 who died after an appeal are in addition to the 2,650, and in Sassy's article they are included in the 4,010.

The Mirror article also claims that the 2,380 people who were on ESA and who died had been transferred to JSA, but the Huff article doesn't say that.

The Mirror article says that 1,360 died after appealing, but the Huff article says that they died after losing an appeal.

I think they need to establish the facts properly.

Even 1 death is 1 too many.
Because the DWP refused to give out the stats, the truth was hard to find.
Still doesn't make the figures acceptable though.
But at least IDS is happy as each death is money saved.

There's nothing wrong with subjectivity. It isn't an issue unless it relates to how we feel about it, and that's subjective. I think people are concerned about the fairness here.

And objectivity? As sassy just pointed out, if tacitly, objectivity is just a matter of how you frame something.

The connectivity question is fair, but probably unanswerable. Not only do we not know what they died of, but what conditions exacerbated the situation...and, for that matter, what other options were available.
