First wolf pack found in California in nearly a century
A wolf pack has been spotted in California for the first time in nearly a century. Two adults and five pups have been confirmed in southeastern Siskiyou County. Local ranchers tending to their herds told authorities they had spotted the animals. State and federal authorities subsequently confirmed the sightings after a remote camera captured photos of the pack.

Yes, exciting stuff. And last year they spotted some jaguars that had moved into the Santa Rita Mountains, just south of Tucson a couple of miles. Wish them all well.
The wolves in particular are hunted by ranchers, protecting sheep and cattle. Wolves are pack hunters and are considered a threat to ranchers. That's why they were gone for so long.
It's nice when the territory springs back to its native condition.
