Last week, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas awarded terrorist Fatima Barnawi with the "Military Star of Honor." Barnawi placed a bomb in a movie theater in Jerusalem in 1967 in an attempt to murder civilians. The bomb was discovered and Barnawi spent 10 years in Israeli prison.

The Palestinian Authority continues to destroy any chance for lasting peace by teaching children that Palestinians and Muslims are in conflict with Jews. The PA teaches that Jews have an intrinsically evil nature and that this conflict is part of Islam. The PA repeatedly sends the message that the conflict is much more than a conflict over territory.

On the latest broadcast of the official PA TV children's program The Best Home, a young girl recited a poem calling Jews "barbaric monkeys," "the most evil among creations," and those "who murdered Allah's pious prophets." Jews are said to be "throngs... brought up on spilling blood... impure... [and] filth."

PA honors 3 terrorists
who lynched two Israeli reservists

Last week, Palestinian Authority Member of Parliament and Director of the PLO Commission of Prisoners' Affairs Issa Karake visited the families of three of the terrorists who took part in the lynching and murder of two Israeli reservists in 2000. Karake honored these murderers by giving their families "plaques of honor." [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 9, 2015]

Karake has stated that Palestinians have an unequivocal right to "resistance" and "struggle" - PA euphemisms for violence against Israel. He calls the murderers of Israelis "heroes."

On Oct. 12, 2000, a Palestinian mob brutally murdered and mutilated the bodies of two Israeli reservists who had accidentally entered Ramallah. A well-known picture from the gruesome murder showed a Palestinian raising his bloodied hands heroically, showing the crowd his hands covered in the blood of his victims. While Israel mourns its terror victims and fallen soldiers on Israel's Memorial Day (Wednesday), the Palestinian Authority and Fatah, both headed by Mahmoud Abbas, continue to celebrate, honor, and present as role models those responsible for terror.

14 terrorists who murdered a total of at least 160 people were honored by the PA this month. Abbas personally honored 4 Palestinian terrorists. He cited "the first Martyr," "the first [male] prisoner" and "the first female fighter prisoner," all of whom he awarded with "decorations of military honor, in admiration of their militant pioneering role." [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, April 17, 2015] He also honored arch-terrorist Abu Jihad, who the PA credits with orchestrating attacks in which 125 were murdered. Abbas was the patron of a rally held in Abu Jihad's honor. Abbas "expressed his pride" in Abu Jihad "for his significant national role." [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, April 17, 2015]

On the occasion of the Israeli remembrance day for the victims of the Holocaust last week, a regular columnist in the official Palestinian Authority daily wrote an op-ed in which he recognized the fact that the Holocaust occurred and targeted Jews. But although the writer even called it "a catastrophe," he reiterated false statements that have long been part of PA policy regarding the Holocaust, minimizing its scope and blaming the Zionist movement for participating in evil.

The PA daily repeated the claim that Jews have exaggerated the number of victims and that it was not 6 million Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust, but only "between one and two million":

"Estimates regarding the number of Holocaust victims differ. The supporters of the Zionist movement have exaggerated the number of victims, claiming that it amounts to 6 million, whereas others, unbiased researchers, have estimated that there were between one and two million Jewish victims." The writer hinted to an oft-repeated accusation that Jews were themselves at fault because their non-Jewish fellow citizens wanted to be rid of them due to the inherent Jewish evil:

"Regardless of the number, the bottom line is that a catastrophe that harmed the Jews in Europe occurred, due to matters concerning the relations between the European nations and the Jews living among them. "

Fatah: Violence and terror is Fatah’s way



Fatah video celebrated 5 suicide bombings by Fatah

that murdered 55 civilians

A recent post by Fatah on Facebook made it clear that fighting Israel militarily with weapons is still a central Fatah policy. A photo of Fatah members in military uniforms armed with automatic weapons, with the Palestinian flag in the background, featured the following text:



“My enemy, I swear you will not escape the people and the revolution”

The message that violence and terror is legitimate was also highlighted in a video posted on Fatah's Facebook page, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launching of Fatah. The video commemorated five suicide bombings and a shooting attack against Israeli civilians, in which a total of 55 people were murdered. The video also honored suicide bombers and showed scenes from attacks blended with footage of Fatah terrorists firing rockets.

Hamas does not intend to foster peaceful relations with Israel. Hamas' Ministry of Interior posted a photo on its Facebook page of a little boy, no more than five years old, posing in military uniform and holding an automatic rifle. The text beside the photo explained that children under Hamas rule grow up learning "the love of Jihad" - religious war for Islam - and aspire to die as Martyrs for Allah:


"These are our lion cubs.We have brought them up on the love of Jihad and Shahada (Martyrdom-death)"

 
Hamas' Ministry of Interior is part of the unity government formed between the PA and Hamas last year. However, in practice, the PA and Hamas have been acting independently in the last few months.
 
Palestinian Media Watch has shown that similar to Hamas, both Fatah and Fatah's youth movement this year have released statements supporting Martyrdom-death:
 
The [Fatah] Culture and Information Commission: "We believe that Martyrdom-death (Istish'had) for Palestine is a destiny we assume willingly and serenely, for a free and dignified life for our people in the paradise of the eternal homeland."

Why Palestinian mothers make joyful cries
for their martyred sons

Palestinian Authority TV broadcast a school activity whose stated framework was to use culture to teach children to boycott Israeli products. However, the boy whose interview PA TV chose to broadcast said he was also learning through the school theater that Jews should be killed:

“I came to rehearse the play in order to boycott Israeli products and fight the Jews, kill them, and defeat them.”

Palestinian Media Watch has documented that the PA uses education and culture to promote hatred and murder of Jews. The PA Ministry of Education last year held a sporting event named after a terrorist who placed a bomb in a refrigerator in the center of Jerusalem, murdering 15 and injuring 60. The Minister of Culture last year presented an award at a cultural event to Egyptian poet Hesham El-Gakh after he read his poem with the words “our enemy is Zion, Satan with a tail.” The head of the PA Sports Authority sponsored a ping pong tournament named after Dalal Mughrabi, who led a bus hijacking that ended with the murder of 37 Israelis.

Last week, the Palestinian Authority celebrated the anniversary of the Coastal Road Massacre in which Palestinian terrorists murdered 37 Israeli civilians, by dedicating a monument in a square in Ramallah to terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, who led the bus hijacking in 1978.



Mughrabi Square is adorned with a large monument in the shape of what the PA tells its people is "Palestine" - a map that includes all of the State of Israel. In the center of the monument, there is an image of terrorist Mughrabi holding a rifle.



PA TV News broadcast the message of a cleric from the event, indicating that the lesson that Palestinians take from the Mughrabi attack is that murder is the way to "liberate the homeland":

"Dalal, God bless her, this female Martyr, she taught us how we can liberate the homeland... We all see her as a model and as a symbol for us."

On March 8, International Women's Day, Abbas' Fatah party posted an image of terrorist Amna Muna, addressing her as "O glorious one," and stating that she "is always present in our hearts." Muna participated in the kidnapping and murder of 16 year-old Israeli Ofir Rahum on Jan. 17, 2001. She met the Israeli youth in an online chat room, convinced him to meet her, then drove him to Ramallah where he was murdered by her two accomplices. She was arrested and sentenced to life in prison, but was released in the Gilad Shalit deal (details below).
 
 Posted text: "When we speak of the Palestinian woman on her day (i.e., International Women's Day), you must be present, O glorious one, the prisoner who was exiled from Palestine to Turkey, and is always present in our hearts. Warm wishes to the women of Palestine."
 
Interviewing Muna upon her release in 2011, the official Palestinian Authority daily called the terrorist "brave" and a "female fighter and leader," Palestinian Media Watch reported. A PA TV host likewise honored her and other female prisoners, stating that "without a doubt, I love you."
 
Amna Muna was serving a life sentence for her participation in the kidnapping and murder of Rahum, but was released in October 2011 as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal brokered between the Israeli government and Hamas. She was deported to Turkey, after refusing to go to the Gaza Strip. In the Shalit deal, Israel released 1,027 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who had been held hostage by Hamas for more than 5 years.
