That’s the slogan on the ad, written in big ugly bold letters, above a young girl with pigtails, sitting at a poker table with what is clearly an original iPad. The insinuation is that now in her impressionable youth she’s playing a game with simulated gambling, which means that she’ll become a future gambling addict when she reaches adulthood.

Shocking logic leaps aside, the ad demonises games and gamers alike, especially those who encourage their kids to play games.

The ad, as we understand, is being prominently featured in Adelaide right now in prominent Ooh! Media outdoor placements. This one in particular was snapped Colonnades Shopping Centre in South Australia the photographer tells us, and it has since been shared to Reddit and Twitter, with gamers going nuts about the content.

This is fucking stupid and completely WRONG

I like pretty much every other gamer HATE pokies because you hardly ever win! the only people I know that can stand them for more than 2 minites are Non-gamers that are used to losing every time they try and play something on a screen. the friend with a pokies problem is also the friend the rest have always beaten at computer games to the extent they don't play them.

Seriously you lose through nothing but random chance like over half the time (literally no partial win, nothing) and even getting a win that is worth trying to up (double or nothing games built into the machine) is less than 10% chance.

So why would a Gamer play them? if anything we are almost immune to them because when have such a hieghtend electronic reward expection from playing other games. If a game caused players to loses as often and as randomly as a poker machine no one would play it. Gamers get the Shits with a 1 random bug in a game that cause a random loss and dedicate whole websites to hating on the whole game that possesed that one fault. On what Planet is this gamer playing poker machines where the actual game is 'random loss'.
