Israel reportedly plans buffer zone in Syria to help Druze
Thousands of Israeli Druze rally, raise funds, calling on government to help brothers in Syria
Israel intends to create a humanitarian buffer zone inside Syria, along its border, in order to help that country's Druze, according to the Walla News web site. Israel is in contact with the Red Cross and various countries regarding the buffer zone. A diplomatic source told Walla that "there is no intention to ignore the possibility of a massacre against the Druze." Several weeks ago a senior Israeli military official, briefing reporters, also said "Israel would not stand idle if it sees a massacre." A Red Cross spokeswoman declined to confirm or deny the report, but added that the organization is "holding a confidential dialog with various sources".
Israel has been providing medical treatment to Syrians injured as a result of the fighting at a military field hospital on the Golan Heights and at Israeli hospitals. Israel has also asked the United States to increase its aid to the embattled Druze community in Syria, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported Sunday. The request was made last week to the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, on his visit to Israel. According to Haaretz, while Israel is unlikely to intervene on the Syrian Druze’s behalf in the Jabal Druze region of southern Syria, it is prepared to offer humanitarian aid to residents of the Druze village of Khadr, which lies close to the Israeli border. The Israeli Druze community is deeply concerned about the fate of the Druze minority in Syria, warning that about 500,000 of them are under threat. Thousands rallied across several Druze villages Saturday calling on the government to help the Syrian Druze. Israel Radio reported that an intensive fund-raising drive in recent days among the Druze has generated NIS8 million (almost $2 million).
One Israeli Druze from the village of Mas'ada in the Golan Heights told the Israeli news site Ynet: "I have family and friends who I'm very worried about and I try to help them in any way I can. I hope that the State of Israel will help them and let them come to Mas'ada. We are all ready to take them into our homes."
The community’s leaders have recently met with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot to warn them of the danger to the Druze in Syria should the rebels advance further south. The Druze elders also met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah this week and asked for his help.
One leading Druze figure, Jaber Hamed, the head of the Sajur Council and Chairman of the Forum of the Druze and Circassian Authority, called on Israel to help prevent a "Druze Holocaust" in Syria. "Our streets are boiling with fury, and we are afraid things have spiraled out of control," "We are in immediate danger, without reason. Therefore, we call on all leaders, including our Muslim brothers, to unite in joining our call for all factions in Syria to stop the massacre of Druse and others," Jaber stressed, adding "who more than the Jewish people should understand what we are going through these days, as a minority in the world."

Yep, they certainly have, ISIS Fighters!
A new report from the UN reveals that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) maintained regular contact with members of ISIS since May 2013. The UN identified contact with IDF forces and ISIS soldiers.
Addictinginfo.org reports:
In a new report from the UN, it is revealed that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were maintaining regular contact with members of the so-called Islamic State since May of 2013. Initial reports from the IDF stated that this was only for medical care for civilians, but that story fell apart when the UN observers identified direct contact between IDF forces and ISIS soldiers, including giving medical care to ISIS fighters. Observations even included the transfer of two crates from the IDF to ISIS forces, the contents of which have not been confirmed at this time. Further the UN report identified what the Syrians label a crossing point of forces between Israel and ISIS, a point of concern brought before the UN Security Council. This report from the UN strengthens the claims by the Syrian regime that Israel is heavily involved in operations within the nation.
This is part of a continuing pattern of Israeli support for the Islamic State. It was only two months ago that Israel attacked Syrian forces in opposition to ISIS forces. Israeli attacks even killed an Iranian military adviser for the Syrian military just two weeks ago. The U.S.’s financing of ISIS, part of the effort against Syrian president Assad, is well documented, as well. That the efforts to undermine the Assad regime were in turn strengthening the same terrorist group which recently set a Jordanian pilot on fire to set an example is conveniently ignored by the higher up military command.

And the buffer zone has got nothing to do with helping anyone, it's to get more land and keep it.
Israel is considering creating a buffer zone reaching up to 10 miles inside Syria, The Sunday Times quoted sources close to military planners as saying.
The Times reported that the proposal, intended to protect itself from rebels across the northern frontier, has been presented to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
“A buffer zone set up with the co-operation of local villagers lies at the heart of the plan. If the country remains unstable we might have to stay there for years,” The Times quoted a military planner as saying.
A security fence is currently being erected from Mount Avital south to the point where the Israeli, Syrian and Jordanian borders meet on the southern Golan Heights, but, according to the military source, a buffer zone is necessary to prevent daily mortar and rocket attacks.
"We knew then that there was a strongman in Damascus. But not any more. The new wall will be good when it’s ready but without the buffer zone mortar and rocket attacks on Israel would be a daily event," The Times quoted the military source as saying.
The prime minister was previously quoted as saying Israel needs to construct a border fence with Syria on the Golan Heights because the Syrian army has moved away from the frontier, and global jihad elements have moved into the area in its place.
So they help ISIS, then they use them as the excuse to get more land. Which is what most people said they would do as soon as it was known they were helping ISIS.

Re: Israel reportedly plans buffer zone in Syria to help Druze
Dear me I see Sassy is desperate again, with no known media reporting any such bullshit the IDF is working with ISIS and if you read the actual UN report is proves how badly these tin pot media articles claiming this babble...
http://www.un.org/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=S/2015/177
Second so now Sassy claims its a land grab, oh my, you cannot make it up how absurd that is and if anything what is needed is Israeli intervention to knock these extremist groups back into the stone ages. I have no doubt Israel is happy to see two enemies destroy each other, but the claims made from some of these extreme lefties is hilarious.

Oh dear, didn't you read it?
5. Corssing of the ceasefire line by civilians, primarily shepherds, was observed by United Nations personnel on an almost daily basis. After the issuance of my previous report, UNDOF observed one occasion in November and several in January and February when armed individuals crossed the ceasefire line, approached the technical fence and at times interacted with IDF across the ceasefire line in the vicinity of United Nations observation posts 51 and 54. In some instances, wounded individuals were handed over from the Bravo side to the Alpha side. During the evening of 20 January, in the area north of observation post 54, UNDOF observed two trucks crossing from the Bravo side to the Alpha side, where they were received by IDF personnel. The trucks were loaded with sacks before returning to the Bravo side. On at least four occasions in February, United Nations personnel at observation post 54 saw vehicles, including small trucks, crossing the ceasefire line from Bravo side and approaching the technical fence. One one such occasion, several vehicles, including some with anti-aircraft guns mounted on the back, were seen parked next to the technical fence. Owing to the terrain, UNDOF could not observe whether interaction between individual on the Alpha and the Bravo sides took place.
6. UNDOF protested all firing across the ceasefire line to the Senior Syrian Arab Delegate and IDF. All incidents of firing into the area of separation and across the cease fire line, as well as the crossing by individuals of the ceasefire line, are violations of the Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
IDF medics seen treating Syrian rebels in new video
In the video, military medics in the Golan Heights are seen tending to three Syrians in a military ambulance, assessing their condition and providing initial treatment before moving them to a hospital.
The soldiers collect the injured men under cover of night as they are transfered to Israeli hands from across the border. They suffer from various injuries apparently sustained in fighting with the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad, and appear to be in some pain.
The Israeli medical staff seem to do their best to make the three comfortable as they try to identify their injuries and their causes. One is said to have been shot, another possibly hit by shrapnel.
It is unclear which rebel group the three men belong to, and Vice reporter Simon Ostrovsky notes that they could very well be members of organizations hostile to Israel, such as the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front.
Reports recently presented to the United Nations Security Council have revealed numerous interactions between Israeli troops and rebel groups on the Israel-Syrian border over the past year and a half.
UN observers in the Golan Heights meticulously detailed instances of contact between IDF soldiers and rebels, including Syrians being sent into Israel for medical treatment, and the transfer of items and containers, according to records maintained by the UN disengagement force in the Golan demilitarized zone.
Most of the dispatches report on cross-border incidents, though several also detail numbers of people sent from Syrian fighting into Israel for medical treatment.
“During periods of heavy engagement with Syrian forces, [rebel groups] transferred 89 wounded persons across the ceasefire line to the IDF,” a May 2014 dispatch reads, adding later that “the IDF handed 19 treated and two deceased individuals” back to the insurgents.
On another occasion, also dated May 2014, UN monitors observed IDF troops “handing over two boxes to armed members of the opposition” on the Syrian side.

In my day, it was called 'aiding and abetting the enemy', or perhaps they are not seen as the enemy. Funny that.
